Greeeaaat. Those "docu-race" coverage montages they broadcast are horrible. Worst news ever for us fans. I guess I'm back to catching every race live, on the internet, following the Lizards on their team radio feature. Bonus feature is you get to hear race control over their channel as well. My family will not be pleased either - it drives them nuts when I've got the vol=11 so I can get my weekend chores done during the race!

I'm no fan of the "new, updated" ALMS website as of last season, either. I found everything harder to locate. Maybe I'm just a "media luddite"...

Didn't somebody earlier-on say that all change is good...? Time to rethink.

So how's the Grand-Am coverage this year?

It's on speed so good. 24 hours of daytona has 14 hours of "LIVE" coverage, better then a 2 hour documentary on abc or espn for ALMS!! I would rather slide down a barbwire banister naked into a bucket of gasoline then watch that.

It states 'Part II will deal with watching on the web.'

Since I posted this here, I thought that I should make an effort to correct it. I tried ESPN3 again and discovered that, at least for me, it has to run for a few moments before achieving a better signal. I have a new computer with an HDMI out on the video card so I connected our 55 inch flat screen expecting the worst. The resolution was pretty far from ideal, of course, and there were a few feed problems here and there, but overall it was watchable. Fairly close to what I get from Netflix streaming.

So I have gone from mad to slightly less mad and hopeful of more coverage than we used to get on conventional TV.

Need some electronics advice:

My friend is telling me I can stream from the internet (including ESPN3) to my TV using a Playstation 3, anyone done this? I need to buy a blueray player anyway so this would be nice if it's true. The wi-fi and internet streaming blueray players I've seen can't do this, they can only play selected content from places like Netflix.

If the PS3 has a flash enabled web browser I suppose it's possible.

We used to hook up the satellite TV at Sebring to keep track of the race right at the end while watching from the top of the RV, now we'll have to buy the internet in order to stream it to our projector and put it on the big screen we bring.

Just fyi....I tried getting ESPN3 at Sebring during the club race...just to try it. It didn't work.
512k is wishful thinking, and NOT fast enough for streaming video.
Plus, ESPN3 must come through your own HIGH SPEED internet service provider. Their streaming video is not like a normal website, it is offered through specific providers, and only if you have an account with that specific provider. Try it: you have to pick what provider you use, then type in information from you account bill. I tried it at a Panera one day and it didn't work there either.
