Default For Sale: 1974 911/GT3 Cup!!

PRICE DROPPED TO $50K!!!

For sale, unique and awesome early chassis, WATER COOLED 911. 1974 911 tub, 993 rsr wide body work, and of course 996 GT3 CUP Drivetrain!! This car is extremely fast and will run with just about any 996 or 997 cup. Everyone drools over this car and I would say it is the ultimate vintage/modern Porsche marriage.

Legal for NASA ST1 and GTS5, has NASA and PCA log books.

Extremely fast:
1:03 at PIR (would be good for top 5 grid spot the last time Rolex raced there)
0:57 at Firebird East (NASA record holder)
1:03 at Firebird Main (NASA record holder)
1:44 at Cal Speedway (easily capable 1:42s according to the data)

Chassis:
1974 911 Tub, rust free
~2250 lbs wet (no driver)!
Full safety devices cage installed and modified by FABCAR, fully tied to front and rear suspension
ATL fuel cell ~1.5 yrs old
Amazing cooling system with a single huge radiator vented through hood
Water and oil stay below 200 even in 100 degree+ Arizona racing weather.

Interior:
Recaro ProRacer HANS seat
Schroth Belts
Custom steering colum
Tilton floor mount pedal set up
Full STACK Data system with GPS, throttle, steering, G-force, etc

Body:
All fiberglass 993 extra wide body
60 inch carbon banana wing

Drivetrain:
2000 gt3 cup engine w/~2 hrs since refresh by Chris Cervelli
Just over 350 rwhp before refresh
996 cup rear chassis wiring, very nicely done
2000 gt3 cup G96 6 speed cable shift gearbox (NOT EASY TO FIT!)
Close ratio gears for ~160 mph top speed
~25 hrs on gearbox since refresh
2004 Cup diff
Tilton 7.25 clutch 2 plate clutch, full thickness on discs

Front Suspension:
Full ERP 935 monoball
JRZ 3-way adjustable remote reservoir struts with dropped spindles
18x10" fikse wheels w/ 265/645/18 hoosier slicks
930 Brakes

Rear Suspension:
Full ERP 935 setup
930 trailing arms
JRZ 3-way shocks
930 Brakes
18x12" fikse wheels with hoosier 320/650 tires

Extras:
Spare shift cables
3 sets total Fikse wheels
Probably some other stuff I am forgetting...

The car is running flawlessly. It has been disassembled for several months, but we just put the engine back in fresh from Chris Cervelli and ran it for about 2 hours of testing a few days ago. Performed perfectly, ran all day without any issues. Car is ready to race. Full thickness on pads and rotors, completely fresh.

It would cost WELL into the 6 figures to have a shop duplicate this car. It is incredibly quick and nimble with modern watercooled power and 500 lbs lighter than a 996 cup with much larger tires!

It was a tough decision to put it up for sale...it is really a great car, and you have to WORK to get the most out of it since it doesn't have any of the modern driver aids, so it's very rewarding when you get it right.

BUT -

My dad and I do all our racing together and we recently bought a 2000 GT3R which we are getting back into racing shape. The plan was to keep this car and my dad would be the primary driver for it. We did some testing last friday at the new INDE motorsports ranch where he got a couple of hours in the car and he decided he's just not comfortable in a car this fast. Would love to keep it but we don't have the space/time/budget for 3 race cars and my dad will eventually get something a little more tame!

I'll certainly miss it...

It's a fun car, but I'm sure driving the GT3R will be awesome! INDE was a very nice facility (especially by west coast track standards). Nice club house, etc. The track design left a little to be desired, in my opinion. But it is fun. Definitely the most "real" race track of any in AZ except Arizona Motorsports Park. My only complaint is I think they tried to throw too much at 1 track, it would flow better and be more fun if there were a few less corners. There are whole series of corners which are sweeping 3rd gear, mid speed and all kind of feel the same and like a fast autocross weaving back and forth. Also, there are a couple of spots which are key to a quick lap that require taking a lot of risk. For example the corner onto the main, 2200 ft long straight is off camber, decreasing radius, very fast and pushing you out into a concrete wall that is right at the edge of the track...

Cobra has been gone for a few years, sold it around the time we bought this black car...I think Dowling's too attached to his car to ever make a change!

Inde is definitely a fun track - I ran it at two seperate events last year, full track 2.75 with 21 turns. (My primary club has two more events scheduled for 2011 - May and Sept Holiday weekends

If you dont pay attention, you can get into trouble.

I love coming onto the main straight then carrying the speed into T2 ......my favorite part of that track.

The Borlands are also very nice people to work with!

2 Thumbs up.

Stock early cup headers and exhaust. It just has two little hi-flow cats as "mufflers." It does sound good, doesn't it? :-)

We were planning to do PIR, but since we decided to sell the car we aren't going to run it. You just never know what might happen out on the race track and I don't want to be fixing it before selling!

Took some more pics of the car, excuse the dirt - it hasn't been cleaned up since being on track last Friday. There was some water on the track so the underside got a little muddy.
