Face Shield or Sunglasses?

I used to run with my visor on my Stand 21 until I read Charles E's article in Grassroots and switched to the visor and close it religously while driving. I had a serious fire two weeks later. A visor is safety equipment, drive with it down.

Just the blower. I had a buddy that had one of the early ones that went through the cooler and it did nothing... I think the new ones may be better but no personal experience.
Also, if you plumb the intake tube right, you don't even have to run the motor to get fresh air while at speed so it cuts down on noise.

I am dumbfounded by the votes for visor in light of the precedent/evidence....I mean You think You are hot/uncomfortable, try a fire, You are dead...
Bad stuff happens so quickly, why not always stack the odds in Your favor every way You can?

I think some people might be using the word "visor" when thinking of a open/close type shield.
Overthe years I went from shield on and shut to no shield on the helmet and back to on and ready but cracked open a little. A bump or slap with a hand snaps it shut with a click. Cools suit helps too. cool body = cooler head.
The image of Mr. Espenlaub's roasted helmet should be made into a sticky for fire and helmet safety. Start a thread where people post images of why good safety systems are needed. Thanks for the post Seth.

I can't believe how much crap flies through the window and smacks you in the helmet. I've had to remove all sorts of rubber marks etc. from the visor. Visor down and wear a balaclava...cool suit makes it comfortable.

Also, what's wrong with wearing contact lenses for all you guys with prescription specs? Then with a tinted shield you've got the best of both worlds.
