Default A lap of Sebring

I lost a power steering hose in the first run session of the day while being coached by Chris Hall. That put an end to my day. Here is my fastest lap of that session. Chris will be doing a makeup day with me next month. What a great guy!

Mark,
It looks like you have been studying. That's an overall nice line. What suspension and tires are on the car as it looks like it is floating a bit.

Too bad we can't see your hands and legs for inputs, could not always tell if you made it all the way to the apex, but great line!
i've heard great things about Chris Hall from a few of his students. Awesome that he gives you a make up day..

Thanks, I have PSS9's and Hoosiers. What do you mean by "floating"?

Chris is a first class guy. He could have charged me another day since it wasn't his fault that my car blew a hose. Instead he told me that he'd reschedule the coaching session for the next day I'm at Sebring which is next month. The way he treated me was so awesome that he has a client for life. Also if he or his family ever needs a root canal, it's on the house. People that do business like him are so rare in this day and age.

nothing worse than not showing driver input of some kind when watching a race video. well, I guess no video at all would be worse.

Mark,

When I watch the video I see the horizon bouncing up and down more so on your video than I have ever noticed on mine or others who shoot at Sebring. Now, I know it's real bumpy but to me it looks like the car/camera is bouncing over the bumps and the horizon is moving up and down like if I was in a softly sprung caddy.

Maybe it's mean as no one else noticed it. If it was me, I'd try stiffing up the PSS9's. If they're full stiff you might want to change the spring rates...wait is this a dual use car? if so forget I mentioned it.

Sound wasn't great but here is my feedback:

1) You coasted into 3
2) You were a bit late at Apex of 3 which screws up 4
3) You missed the Apex at 5 and couldn't get back to power quick enough for a long run down 7
4) Broke a bit early for 7
5) A bit too early at Tower Turn
6) Need to be tighter on the back side of 17 so you can be full throttle quicker

Interesting your comments on braking because I had been braking a lot later as you suggest prior to my coaching session. Chris purposely had me start braking at those earlier spots, so as to get off the brakes sooner to carry more momentum through the corners. He said eventually he'll have me braking a bit later again, but I was able to notice going through the turns a lot faster as a result of that one bit of advise.

Actually, Mark's T17 was great. If you go to tight in 17 there is a really bad bump.

I agree that you should back off the entry if you're missing your spot but, as he said, you will work back up to braking later. I'm really not trying to be hyper critical because I know what you're trying to accomplish, I'm just commenting on what I saw in the video.

All is good. I'm only an expert in the eyes of my novice students. Certainly not here on this forum! :-) In terms of 17, as Mike said, Chris told me not to go too tight there, and there was no reason to go for the apex cone that we were taught to shoot for by DE instructors. He likes the wider line through there.
