I will get bumped to GTSU as well with this since I barely squeeked by in GTS5 before. I just had my normally aspirated motor built last year so that it would be at the GTS5 limit... sort of blows. The bummer here is the forced induction well built GT cars will rule the roost since there are no rules on weight or horsepower...if they can drive.

Well said. I think they should have left well enough alone or added a GTS6 before going to Unlimitied. I think some drivers were upset about racing the factory cup cars, but they can be beat with a good GT car... it's difficult but it can be done.

I think attendence will be the determining factor as to whether or not the GT6 class becomes necessary. Clay you just need to get Fairchild to start racing his just-built 997TT race car. I guess we'll see how it works out.....

How is your new 3.4L motor working out? dyno yet? did you go to the last POC race at Buttonwillow
I think Ill try and find a way to a little more power this year to fit more squarely in GTS5, as I dont think its worth it to slick up and put on the ballast to fit in to GTS4.

The rules change eminated from the West Coast where we have several 450 rwhp 7 cups, and a few 425rwhp 6 cups (WSC) that could run GT5 at 2925 and 2763 respectively. OEM 6 & 7 cups didn't stand a chance since. Narrowing down the 2.5 point range will hopefully encourage more cups to enter, while simultaneously creating a competitive class for the high HP cars.

Do factory 7 and 6 cups make this kind of RWHP or are they souped up? I thought those numbers weren't far off from their flywheel horsepower???

I think Ill try and bolt on the weight for GTS 4. I have an extra 150lbs of weights in the garage I can bolt in. Will they just let me carry a passenger for the race??? . I think just dumbing down my hp would be better. so, maybe its GTS5, since that class is getting the break. Ill have to try out some slicks I found in the garbage can after GTGP.
I do think that slicks are worth a full point, not a partial based on what Ive seen out there. I think you would agree, right gordon???

My latest and greatest Peter Dawe slide valve motec injected 3.8L made 456 flywheel horsepower and 377 rwhp on a dynojet. Wouldn't that mean that those 7 Cup motors would have to make 548 fywheel HP factoring 18% drivetrain loss to make those RWHP numbers? Maybe they do? I don't know... that's what I am asking. Sounds pretty high to me, but you guys probably know better.

does anyone have a link to the car class sheet...that lists all the +/- factors when classing your car? I am planning on racing the 928 Estate in GTS2 next season and need to get it ready!!

The latest greatest stock 3.6 cup engines were putting around 410 rwhp in the 08/09 7 cups with the big intake manifolds.
Late long rod 996 cup engines put about 385 rwhp.
My early 2000 stock 3.6 cup engine through a cup 6 speed h-pattern box (not in a cup car) puts a shade over 350 rwhp.

I think the drivetrain loss on a cup is more like 12% since they're racecars without all the BS....

I think the .5 point for slicks is about right. I'm not much slower on fresh Hoosiers vs. slicks. I think slicks last longer which is opposite of what most folks think but I use the harder compounds....
My 997 Koni racer friend says they get 330 rwhp from their .30 over souped up motors with tuning, etc....
