Default NASA's New GTS Rules For 2011....

In summary....

They raised the GTS5 class weight/HP ratio from 6.5 to 7.2, and left the other classes alone. It appears they're trying to force the later model 2010 cups into GTSU while allowing 6 & 7 cups to run in GTS5. At 2775 lbs, it'll take no more than 375 rwhp to stay in GTS5 including the .2 factory race car penalty described below.

They also added a .2 penalty on factory race cars like GT3 Cups, and/or cars with sequential trannies. It's only one .2 penalty not combined if in a 7-cup.

They will accept only Dynojet dyno certificates.

Thinking the exact same thing Clay.
Oh well, at least they still don't have GTS in AZ.

I am going to need ballast....for ST1 too I think. New car is going to be light, probably close to 2500 with driver. Or i'm going to have to figure out hwo to make the car work on DOTs

The black car fits nicely in GTS5 though at right around 2500 lbs with 350 rwhp on slicks.

I miss seeing (and hearing) your black car out West. I occasionally flirt with the idea of putting a GT3 cup or street motor/trans into my 99'. Of course then reality sets in and I remember how well I've done with my little 3.4....

Cervelli has the motor from the black car right now...should have it back in a few weeks. Freak thrust bearing failure, luckily didn't cause any other damage because we got it quick.

Wanna buy it? 0 hrs on motor and about 15 on a gt3 cup trans...3 way JRZs, 1 year old fuel cell. 3 sets of fikses. Make you a good deal. My best rolling lap at Fontana was a 1:42, should be able to get better than that with some fresh tires and more setup.

JGordon, I met you out at Nasa Nationals this year, I was driving the Black/Orange Cup car in GTS and the White 997 Carrera in PTA.
Anyway I have a 996 Cup motor we are doing a leak down test on Monday that I may want to sell.
Send me a PM if you are interested.

Silly question -

Is GTSU a national class again?

I originally ran GTSU and then NASA made it regional at least here so you couldnt run GTSU at Nationals which is why I switched to SU....

GTS was a great group of guys too as are the ST guys...

Ian just posted on NASA's forum that GTSU was reinstated as a National class last year.....

Even a 996 cup can exceed 375rwhp, I guess I can forget about running a 997 cup in GTS5.

I think that was kind of the point...

If you ran on hoosiers I think it's doable, just not on slicks unless you ballast up.

I will get bumped to GTSU as well with this since I barely squeeked by in GTS5 before. I just had my normally aspirated motor built last year so that it would be at the GTS5 limit... sort of blows. The bummer here is the forced induction well built GT cars will rule the roost since there are no rules on weight or horsepower...if they can drive.
