Default How do these track times compare?

Hi everyone,
Since I know of no one with a comparable car to mine( 02 C4S), I wanted to get a feel for how I am doing in terms of time.
My fastest on laguna seca has been a 1:48:032 and on buttonwillow, a 2:19:???.

Would these be considered slow/middling?
The car, when these times were taken, was bone stock, running on ContiSportContact 2's.

It's so hard to get a feel for how much more time there is to take advantage of without a really good instructor behind the wheel.

Thanks!

Thats pretty good in my opinion. if you want a barometer, speed world challenge, with motorsport upgraded cup cars, on street tires could barely break 1:40. with the winners around 1:40 and the rest of the pack spread out to 1:47. (thats back when your car was new). so, 1:48 is a good clip if those tires are 240 tread wear like we ran.

buttonwillow with bus stop? config 13?

Check out rennpoints.com and navigate to "Lap Records". It shows the times for the classes that have run there with PCA. I don't remember where your car would be classed with PCA, and of course classing has a lot to do with mods, but look at the H class time for a good idea where you should be with a well prepped car.

Laguna Seca:

Relatively stock (camber & bars) Cayman S on R6s - 1:42 ( ~275 RWHP @ 3250#)
CaymanSpec on R6 - 1:37 (~ 298 RWHP @ 2920#)

Add a couple of seconds for tires, etc.

I have never ran Laguna on street tires.. but 1:47 is respectable with street tires for a 996

I think you should shoot for a 1:45 on street tires or get a set of Toyo R888 or Ra1's, then shoot for a 1:42-1:43

Looks like there's a lot more time to be had on Buttonwillow. I feel like I've plateaued on Laguna seca so I'll have think of some ways to get faster. This is great info guys, thanks a million.

I always used to be in the 1:46-7 range with the '92 C4, decent shocks/springs/bars/pads running a Kumho V700 back then. Buttonwillow #1 (is that Bus Stop + Star Mazda?) I think it was slower than 2:10. Not sure how much I ran that car there, as there was overlap into the '73S at that point; but both cars were about the same times everywhere.

Checking PCA club racing lap records is of no use, as we only ran club races there as part of the Sports Car Invitational from '02-'04. But you can check MyLaps for PRC results, though there hasn't been a stock class car raced in years.
