VIR - World Challenge race - Viper vs. Porsche
Lots of great racing over the weekend at VIR.
I got a front row seat to this track fight!
One of the lap before, then next lap a fight! (camera man looks pretty happy!)

regretfully not yet to VIR but that station looks very close to the action. Perhaps optical illusion? Met a driver this weekend with the new viper he likes it and its a beast

We were in the South paddock. The Viper pulled in the South Course pit lane with some grass fire action on the underside of the car. Lots of smoke...smelled like burning hay bales. Now I understand.

Woo Woo! Nice action series.
I agree with Mike; the 911 is out of position (too far right) coming out of T4, and they made contact at T5. Given their positions in the first photo, it appears that it would be up to the Viper driver to back out to save both cars. The 911 driver might not even know that the Viper's still there when he turns in for T5.
The corner workers don't seem at all concerned; maybe they're just happy the cars were delivered right to their front door.

It was a crazy race on Sat....AND Sunday!
Here is the Sat write-up: http://www.world-challenge.com/news/...php?story=1855
Here is Sunday's write-up: http://www.world-challenge.com/news/...php?story=1865
Sunday was one of my worst races..........I had a lot on my mind that weekend outside of the race......it showed but my hats off to the GMG crew, they built a tank of a race car and I fought back the entire Sun race to get on the podium after several "offs".
Should be great TV!

Nice sequence. I see one of my tires in the edge of the shot of the formula car engine shot at least. woohoo
Lots of action on Sunday, from the Cole Trickle/Tony Ave moment in TransAm to the SRF and FE championships being decided on the last race and by the thinnest of margins.

The GT diff worked great. Ride height we were .5" too low at the rear, engine oil pan. Well for sunday we raised the car, which changes a bunch of other things, like rear wing height and over hang, alignment, We got it already for sunday,MantisSport also had 2 944's racing for the National Championship. We lost track of time, missed pregrid for the Cayman, had to start from the pit lane. 3 laps after slicing pass many cars we were back in 3rd. Managed to cut the gap from 13 seconds to 7 seconds at the end. The GT diff worked just "great". Saturday's standing start from sixth , the cayman was in second by the start finish line, the rear end just hooked up! The new IPD plemun helped with some new found HP. Will post video of the start on MantiSport web page soon.

Here's a question for those who were there (and I need to make clear that I was NOT there):
From image #3, it is obvious that the Viper would not have had the "right to the line" under rules such as NASA's. Did either of these drivers receive any penalty/recourse?
Not trying to stir up trouble. Just trying to learn...
Regards,
Dave

that goes down as somone that should have given, and someone that was expecting, "racing room" there was none . In WC, if someone is at you rear quarter, you better not be closing any doors, or what you see there is more than likely the outcome.
