Here's a question for those who were there (and I need to make clear that I was NOT there):
From image #3, it is obvious that the Viper would not have had the "right to the line" under rules such as NASA's. Did either of these drivers receive any penalty/recourse?
Not trying to stir up trouble. Just trying to learn...
Regards,
Dave

When a car is overlapping the car in front of him, it is then considered as the passing is done and you are in the obligation to give him room on the track surface. Passing on the grass was not allowed, either 2 or 4 wheels off the track.
To avoid an incident, you could go on the grass.
That was my understanding and all the 944 Cup guys were acting accordingly. It made for very clean racing and lots of fun!
So I don't know if WC has the same rules, but it should more or less the same as its the same sanctionning body, but I may be wrong

I was there, driving in the 944 Cup that was sanctionned by SCCA Pro Racing and their officials came to us and gave us the following instructions:
When a car is overlapping the car in front of him, it is then considered as the passing is done and you are in the obligation to give him room on the track surface. Passing on the grass was not allowed, either 2 or 4 wheels off the track.

The season championship came down to the final lap or two of the final race and all I know is that when I came through there was more grass and dirt on the track than off of it.
944 looked like they had a great turnout and some good racing. I was with child the whole time so if you saw a guy in a driver suit with a baby that was me.
