Default Tire shaving

Who here shaves their tires? I've been doing it for years and find the wear is better and the tires are faster in a back to back test. Obviously not for hoosier or slicks since they have no tread but shaving nittos for example puts more rubber on the track. There is a reason the world challenge guys shave them.

What are your experiences?

used to run shaved RA1's, new they had huge blocks and needed it to avoid the squirm and run faster.

Running full tread DOTs, is fine for the rain, and for street cars that want to have fun on the track with tires that grip more than normal street tires. racing on full tread is not the fastest way around the track.
hoosier comes that way, as you said, but toyos need to be shaved, or get them used as I do after the WC guys put 3 heat cycles on them.

I shave RA-1's to get rid of the deep tread. This makes them faster sooner. I never felt the lasted any longer, but too fewer heat cycles to break in.

I don't care for shaved. I prefer more of a nicely manicured racing stripe.

Get it? RACING striipe?
