Default Hoosier R6 Tire Slip on Rim

After purchasing a new set of Hoosier R6 on 18 inch Forgeline rims at BIR I noticed after two DE sessions vibration in the rear tires. I had balance checked and both rears were significantly off balance. They were rebalanced. Same thing after three more sessions. In talking with the tire support folks, we marked the rim/tire and after one session the tires were slipping on the rim approximately 8 inches. There was no slipping on the fronts. They offered no solutions other than periodic rebalances. I asked about mounting dry and they said to mount 'dry' would make removal nearly impossible. Car is 2006 C2S with GT3 brakes/pagid black pads. I have been running Hoosiers last couple of years with no problems. There was some talk about others having similar problems with current batch of rear Hoosiers. Any thoughts?

It does happen, and I did use the hair spray method but it did not work on my GT3. I finally stopped balancing my tires. However, there is a good alternative these days. They make beads that you can use to balance the tire, they put the beads inside the tire the beads rotate to the part of the tire that is out of balance and evens it out. I would look into as it solves this problem.

I have this issue on my 968. It is from braking not accelerating. Rotate from side to side will help.

I had the issue on my GT2 then the GT3 until I cleaned the rims carefully and used hair spray as a mounting lube. No issues ever since.

The first day's track session on a new set of balanced R6's is always good, even if the tires rotate several inches on the rim. The first sesssion the next morning starts out with square tires, but they even out after a few laps and run smoothly. Its possible to try and keep balancing them all the time, but really isn't worth the trouble. This has been my experience over the past three years. Mark you tires at the valve stem with a tire crayon - you'll find they rotate on the wheels quite a bit.

Clean tire bead and rim flange and mount using Aquanet as a lubricant (spray on both the tire and rim) and you shouldn't have any problems..

Talking to my tire guy, dismounting tires mounted this way isn't any worse.

I had both my A series move about 2" during the race last year. recently, with a new install of different set, they only moved 1" and during the last race, they didnt move at all. I have pretty big tires, so that might make a difference. but my toyos dont ever move, if anything, 1/4" on the first time out after mount. the rears moved toward acceleration, the fronts, as was said, toward braking forces.

under braking you might! You can get that tire at the slip limit just as 350hp GAC car can.
