Yes, it was. Especially for the McLaren employee who seemed pretty overwhelmed by being able to drive the car he'd dreamed of driving since he was a kid. Wonder how hard he was able to push it; and given his comments after, how capable he was of pushing it.

McLaren "employee"? You're kidding, right?

As for a kiss at Sebring, I'm not sure. I just got remarried on Saturday!

Wow. That was amazing. The segment of him in the rain is beyond belief. He made the other drivers look like amateurs.

Thanks for the post.

I remember watching that rain race from Donington live, and when it ended I remember feeling that I had just seen the stuff of legend.....

You did.
Brundle said it pretty much summed up the essence of Senna. A complicated and gifted man.

Him getting out of the car in a race to rush to the other driver really summed him up for me. The amount of charity work that he did behind the scenes was staggering, and his foundation has continued since his death.

Would Senna be considered the best had he raced in any other time? Today his style would be considered blocking and or dangerous (crashing people out). In the era before him the same manuevers would have killed the other drivers.
If you just look at his speed and car control, yes he is the greatest.

I was too young to appreciate what Jackie Stewart and the earlier F1 drivers were able to do on the race course, so can't speak about them. I did start following F1 in the late 70's and really appreciated Gilles Villeneuve, Niki Lauda and Mario Andretti. But, to me, the 80's was THE decade for F1. Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Keke Rosberg and Ayrton Senna. These guys were good and, to me, Senna was the best. Great video tribute.
