Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has dismissed suggestions that the team's decision to give Mark Webber a chassis recently rejected by Sebastian Vettel is a sign of favouritism within the Milton Keynes outfit.

Webber's huge accident in Valencia has forced a chassis shuffle for this weekend's British Grand Prix - with Webber taking chassis number 3 for Silverstone. This is the same one that Vettel ditched after the team discovered problems with it after Monaco.

Ohhh bwoy ......

Amazing the mentality of those who call themselves F1 race fans, yet promote this kind of farce, by supporting the sport's newest super Prat, Vettel ......

Maybe Webbo might get back his old chassis..............

FYI to you conspiracy theorists, that chassis (#3) WAS found damaged, was repaired and is in perfect shape. Only difference between #3 and #4 (which Webber crashed) is about a kilo extra weight #3 has.

"If we were favouring one over the other, you could do it in different ways. If you look at it objectively, Sebastian is in the car that Mark raced in Bahrain at the first GP, and so effectively all they have done is swap chassis.

"During the course of the year, both drivers – nine out of 10 times – get to drive all the chassis that you have produced so they are just like any other component. There is nothing special; there is nothing secretive about them. They are effectively a bracket that you bolt bits to."

Horner confirmed that the damage to chassis #3 had been around the front suspension pick-up point – and also that the team would now be working on a fifth car in the wake of Webber's accident.

"We initially hadn't planned to build a fifth chassis but now we have lost one then yes, inevitably, the fifth one will come on stream at some point," he said.

Vettel was also sure that there would be no lingering problems for Webber – despite the difficulties he encountered with the car earlier in the year.

"There is nothing wrong with it," he said. "The chassis at the point it was changed was cracked, but since then it has been repaired so it is fine."

I know it's only Friday practice, but as I said, if Webber beats Vettel in the "damaged and now repaired Chassis", Vettel isn't going to look so good.

During the 2nd practice, they mentioned that the chassis that Webber crashed at Valencia would be repaired as well and put into service as a backup chassis just like this one was.

BTW, Wayne has a nasty habit of omitting particular sections of stories to suit his point of view. We've caught him doing it before. Let's just leave it at that, but thanks for catching that.

What hevar dood !

Well if you guys , think Horners explanation was sufficent , what can i say , the crux of the situation is what i had posted , the chassis was rejected by Vettel , given to Webbo , the rest is Horners PR spit talk..

Mark has never raced that chassis and Vettel hasn't since Monaco , if Horner wanted to prove his point he should have given Vettel back that chassis after repair , or did you guys leave that out 2 .

The facts are the facts , Vettel is not driving that chassis , vettel is slower than webber , Vettel is being assisted by the team , regardless of what Horner and anyone else at red bull has to say, Regardless of the 1 kg of bondo attached , we all know 1 kg means nothing in F1 ....

ITC must be dis-appointed , Alonso and Ferrari looking bad again .

Pos Driver Team Time Laps

Wayne, sometimes I actually agree with what you have to say... but the way you present your arguments is very poor. You are confusing speculation with facts and then taking logical leaps based on the speculation and not the actual facts.

Fact: Vettel is not driving that chassis.
Fact/speculation: Vettel and Webber both appear to be on top pace for this race. (Vettel in Practice 1, Webber in practice 2) Remember we don't know fuel loads etc. so no conclusive evidence is here to say that one is 'slower' than the other.
Speculation: Vettel is being assisted by the team (assuming you mean preferential treatment)

Hello Justin ..

Are you saying that Vettel is not receiving special treatment from RB and is not slower than Webbo ?

Fact : Vettel is being given preferential treatment by the team.
Fact : He is slower than Webbo
Fact : Webber has never raced bondo chassis 1 until now
Fact: Vettel hasn't raced it since Monaco ..
Fact: RB Bondo 1 is carrying 1Kg more in weight = slower chassis ...
Fact: Horner never told Vettel to get back in Bondo 1.
Fact: Webbo has to drive Bondo 1 ....

Mark was in the same situation at Williams when he was consistently faster than Rosberg.

Conjecture : That Vettel is top tier.

Fact: He is driving a car that has an advantage over the field as much as button was last year and he can't get it done! RB has made a big mistake , winning an F1 championship requires a certain , harmony , rhythm and pace.... driver , car and team ! Webbo had just starting to display such when he was derailed by the team .

Conjecture: I don't believe Vettel is in the same league as the other top tier drivers , Hamilton will learn a lot from Button about Pace and how much to use , if he does , then Watch out !!!!.

ALonso
Hamilton
.
Button
Webber
Kubica
Vettel

The top 6 currently in the sport , Alonso and Hamilton is on another level from the rest .

I hope the racing gods are watching , another faux champion the sport does not need...

I don't think I said that at all did I? Assumptions are sometimes correct, but you still have to recognize that they are assumptions. Go through your list of facts again and try to figure out what can be known for sure and which you are speculating at.

Fact : Vettel is being given preferential treatment by the team This is not possible to know unless you are an insider
Fact : He is slower than Webbo Not possible to quantify
Fact Webber has never raced bondo chassis 2 until now might actually be a fact
Fact: Vettel hasn't raced it since Monaco .. An actual fact
Fact: he is carrying 1Kg more in weight , slower chassis ... dig ! Partially fact as they will take 1Kg off the ballast, but still a disadvantage

Don't look now, but your "faux champion" is only a few points out of the WDC lead behind the vaunted Hamilton. Maybe this is another thing that you are wrong about. Just saying......

I believe you are just ribbing Larry, 99.5% is not perfect , so I'm sure you are not holding the .5% of the time I'm wrong against me and unlike the other amigos who have to look around schumacher's nut sack to see the races , you have a clearer view..

Hamilton is easily a tier above Vettel , Vettel's car is 2 tiers above Hamilton's, Vettel is still wearing his training wheels, it might be a race ... stay tuned !!!!
