Pictures from the Saturday race. Caught each car rolling off grid. No results yet up on AMB. Saturday race won by Stefanowicz (#12) over Lowrance (#1). Spec 911 won by Tom Van Overbeck (#49).

Now the Spec 911s. Not sure who was fastest in qualifying since the top 4 or 5 draw numbers to see which actual starting position they take. But as they rolled off:

One last Spec 911, then the Spec Boxsters and Spec 944s rolled out. So that makes 3 starts for the field. They ARE rolling starts. Other NASA groups like the Camaro-Mustang Challenge are standing start.

UPDATE: Behram called me a little while ago (Spec 911 #81, the shell of which was to be my Spec racer until he wrecked his SC in the fledgling days of the series) and said there was a casualty. Seems a bunny ran in front of him in T8 on the warmup lap. So maybe Tom and Jerry (man, was THAT bad) saw the buzzard at trackside waiting for "dinner"???

Yup I saw the bunny carcass on its own for a couple of laps and then the buzzard feasting on it as the cars sped by. The buzzard didn't even look up (but then we were the slow quiet 944's - not those zoomy noisy GTL cars)
Didn't know who had caused the fatality though

Hang on - what was Behram doing way out there off line in the middle of the Esses ? I don't think I could have hit the bunny out there and stay on track - even if it was the warm up lap !

Post race conversation with someone was to the effect of--if it's smaller than a deer, don't try to avoid it. We've probably all had close calls (or even hits) with pheasants at Thunderhill; the "smaller than a deer" comment came from a guy who did some racing at Barber, and I guess they have a deer problem there?

He said he was scrubbing the tires. I don't think he was really too far off line when he hit the poor thing, and whoever was behind him was the one who might have kicked it off to the side.

Great shots! I wish I could have been there. Should have done this event, rather than my real debut at Laguna SCCA with the new racer.
thanks for posting the great pics of the field.
so, Stefanowitz is back now?
