i need to work my up to a cup car and i have a long way to go. i did a personal best in my GT3 for my 3rd time at VIR by running a 2:10. i know the car can do more but i was happy with achieving that despite how hot it was.

You could always get into a 996 cup car for a year or so. Newer ones are reliable and still very fast, and have ABS brakes and a regular non-sequential shifter. Train on this then make the jump into a 997.

I am glad to help any way I can or just talk to Gordon @ Autometrics.

Congratulations Toby and you ran very well. Looking forward to seeing you again. June in Virginia can be cool or hot, and no doubt this weekend was the hottest ever. I also bailed on the Sunday race even with the schedule change. I just could not take a third day of that heat! And my 01 Carrera thanked me as well!

Still I will be there next year, and I also will assist with the event as the Sponsor Coordinator. I can assure everyone a decent shirt! Assuming the June timeframe continues, I hope we can all work together to improve participation and increase sponsor support as well.

Have a good summer everyone!

Just so happens that there's a great '03 with all the '05 updates listed on the classifieds....

Thanks for the feedback! Weather clearly challenged everyone from drivers, crew and volunteers but think most would agree is was usually hot. Forecast for this week is highs in low to mid 80's!!! Schedule issue has also been discussed but a challenge to coordinate a date from VIR with PCA Club Racing - throwing in NASA and other events really makes it hard.

Plan ahead for next year. Hope to see everyone back - even it the date is in June again.

Hey Dan, Yes, a 997. I think I have a buyer for my car and am planning on selling it right after Road America. Hopefully I'll have a 997 before the end of the year if my search goes well...

We talked with VIR before we left about the possibility of another date. They do not have any holes in their schedule that would allow us to move off of our date (June 24-26 for next year).

So we are doing the next best thing and have requested cooler temps for next year. In all seriousness, this weekends heat was higher more than normal.

Those of you that have commented on not coming back because of the time slot, we really hope you reconsider for next year. But we do understand.

If you have any input that you'd like to share but don't want to post.... please PM or email me directly.

This is the third year in a row where temps have been "higher than normal.". I think it is just a hot time of year.

You should see if you can swap dates with a club's DE.
