With the 5 second penalty to a ton of drivers does Kobayashi move up?

"But that's how it is. Unfortunately everything goes against us and it seems they are allowing everything."

-Alonso on Ferrari and McLaren

the safety car wasn't past the blend line when hammy passed. i DON"T know the rule here, but if i'm hammy, i go past and worry about the rest later.

as for the "delta" speeds on the other cars, i have no idea how to think about that yet.

The line on the right side of the screen cap is the safety car line. That is the point where the safety car is considered on course and no passing. The safety car drifted across the blend line before that. Hamilton slowed down at that point and then sped up. The safety car crossed the safetycar line about 10 feet before Hamilton.

I feel bad for Alonso, Kobayashi just had so much more car than him today - not much he could do

Seems like Webber has a penchant for flying upside down. Heart in mouth stuff. Amazing build quality of the cars though for him to just walk away from that.

With Brand new tires. Big f'ing deal.
Kinda funny, coming for some one who claims to be a professional racing and driving coach. I would expect better...

Ooooh....did I strike a nerve?

Blaming it on tires? pffffttttt... A two-time WDC should have not gotten out-driven, plain and simple.

that is not weber's crash but the other MB in the same weekend. Weber crashed in the morning warm up earlier the same day. This event happened 3 times to MB. A number of Porsches had the same type of crashes in this era as well.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it. The safety car was not technically deployed, and you can pass it when it's in the pit lane.

Fantastic pass by Kobayashi on both Fernando AND Buemi.
