Hey guys, I will have my son (9 years old) with me all race weekend. Just a heads-up that he is offering "bug and rubber marks" washing service. He charges $1 to remove the bugs off the front of your car and another $1 to remove the rubber. His idea is to sign up a few guys who'd like their car washed after several sessions and therefore you might pay him $5-10/weekend to keep your car relatively clean. His business model probably falls apart a bit if you wait until your car is covered in bugs and pay him $1, but he can figure that out over time.
At any rate, if you're interested, let me know your car # and my son will try to find you. Otherwise, I'm car #28 (Spec Boxster) and he'll be hanging around our trailer.
Thanks!
(All common sense disclaimers for 9 year old car washes apply. He uses micro fiber towels and McGuire's Quick Detailer to clean.)

Nice idea to have your son involved; i hope the Glen doesn't have a bird, though.
At Tremblant PCA DE a few years back, my then 14 year old son and his buddy wanted to set up a car wash service; track management said no, so we configured it to a car wash for charity service, and all was good. Raised a few hundred $s for a good charity, too.
Gave my son a chance to be involved, which he enjoyed. Gave me a chance to get him excited about track stuff, which seems to have worked (did his first DE 2 weeks ago).
Your son's deal sounds like it should be under the radar and no where near as noticeable as a car wash.
Have fun and good luck; those Spec Boxsters look very appealing.

1) seperating D and E is not good. It's basically one big class with close competition and good racers who know and trust one another. Some of the most fun I've had are with guys in E.
2) having all the SP cars will likely mean a split start again. That means the field will be that much smaller. We never saw them last year other than lapping the SP1 guys because the speed differential is so great.
3) who knows how well spbox will run? If they run close to us it will be awesome. If not, race will be spread out and come down to a very small lead pack on a very big track. When Fred spun in front of me on the 4th turn of the first lap last year, I didn't see another car until the last lap when Fred caught and passed me. I ran a DE for the entire race.

The issue with run groups is all about competition. How they are split can make a huge difference in how fun your race will be. You want the largest group of close competitors possible and it's really important at a big track like the Glen. It can turn into a very spread field and you won't have anyone to race with. It also matters if your class is at the top or bottom of the field.
