anyway, he has a LOT more to work out with that car before it is going to be a force. Hats off to Dean! That little momentum car might work with 100 hp, but with 3 or 400, it sure looks like a handful. 1:40 looks like terminal velocity for it.

that loss of a wheel at turn 6 was a great save.

Ill see you guys at the next laguna race. I just got done building my main set of wheels from the wreck. half way done. what a pain.

lets have a beer at the social in June!! Ill buy!

It will be faster than 1:40....no doubt....right now it has ZERO aero...as in none..just like a spec miata...he's also running LITTLE tires at 225's all around...once it gets bigger tires and proper aero the times will fall fast!!!

Given how the LS miata sits right now...1:40 does sound right..since it did 2:00 at Thunderhill (cyclone) right at he 20 second window...

He also has a very mild engine...just a stock LS1 at 300whp.....

There is something kind of different about Laguna. Walls, sweeping turns, the late braking of the entrance of the corkscrew, the on edge feel of the exit of the corkscrew and following turn sequence. you need a good car under you . one that has issues, will be a handful to drive there. Ive driven a 1:40 with no aero on the 928 with only 320, and near 3000lbs I heard the miata is near 2200lbs. True? In otherwords, a tossed together frankenstein set up will have a hard time corralling laguna. did you see the NSX times? 1:59 at t-hill, but at laguna, 1:39s. Generally, we were running 2:02 -3s when we were running 1:39-40s at laguna. 2:00 at Thill got me to the 1:37s. we will see how it does next month, but it sure looked like a handful on the video. Not to mention, tires falling off the car. I cant say we have ever seen that before.

I cant wait to see the car though. its the second time Ive been out there and he has gone home before I could check it out! That Rx7 with the pumped up LS1 was a beast, and beautiful too!! 1:34s at laguna.

1:34 is pretty good at Laguna...but Kip did 1:29's on slicks in the TT NSX....just like Andersons 1:30's on slicks....

Remember a bone stock ZR1 did 1:35's and the Viper ACR X is down to 1:32's....

I think the racing weight of the Miata is 2500lbs with driver.....or 8.3lbs/whp....and your at 7.9....(380whp-3000lbs)...

However I do think increasing the HP of an original design by a factor of 3 will present problems....and it takes times to find-fix the weak spots....

Imagine how much work it would take to make a 900+hp 928 reliable.....

The ZR1 is 638hp & comes with Michelin PS2's.....which are quite good for street tires.... I rode in Tims at Thunderhill...& to say it has power is a MASSIVE understatement.....it pulls at hard leaving 15 as it does at the end of the straight before 1...
