When I lost my brakes in the Laguna race last year, for the same reason (burst brake line), i had a lot of room to downshift and pitch the car. this guy didnt have that luxury. The reason those tires are there, is someone in a test day, had the same problem and ended up across the track, hitting another car going down the 6-8 straight , killing one of the drivers.

BZZZT, wrong answer. BZZZT wrong answer second part too.

Brake failure, did all he could to pitch the car, but no room. What he should have done was grab one more gear down with a blip and that would have helped a lot, at least to clear the tires. the skidding you heard was him trying to pitch the car. You can also hear the rpms NOT go down as he pased the car, which means he was only under low part of the compression braking. a gear grab would have been a car saver there. I wonder what part of the line failed!

those are the american iron boys. that was a pretty solid hit!

he lost the fronts, or he would have had plenty of brakes to slow the car down, in some direction. . Yes, the skids are him pitching the car to slow and turn the car, just not enough. The throttle didnt stick as someone thought, it was just the car coasting in gear.

Yep, this has happened to me twice now. (my car and a loaner rx7) Not a fun feeling and glad that didnt cause me to plow into something. thats a drivers worse nightmare (besides a car shooting across the track ) .

Yes, it is. If you had this experience, you might be able to reflect, instead of your usual guessing!

Why do you get SO angry and defensive and hostile if anyone dares to disagree with your "analysis"? Do you feel threatened by any opinion other than your own?

Cool it children.

Somewhat OT, if you were in a situation where you know you're going to hit the wall, how would you hit it? I'd want to hit it head on as most safety equipment works best in that direction, also you've got the biggest crumple zone. Thoughts?

Glancing sideways just as he did, it deflects the energy more.
It's the sudden stops that kill you, head on is more chance of sudden stop.

So the view at the end is the passenger door?

The cage looks odd....they don't look like typical door bars.

..Missed it by THAT much....

You can't watch that without wanting to release a bit of the wheel to try and get some traction past the end of that wall...hell of a hit. It looked like he lost all of the binders, it didn't slow at all and you know he had to be standing on them...I wonder when the "O ****" moment happened, it almost looked like it was just after he blew buy the lead car, and by that time he was almost out of tarmac...yikes.

It could of put him on the roof, but could you it of dissipated more speed to put the thing in a full spin?

sounds and looks like a GT1 car which can be a tube frame car. Not sure if that makes a difference in teh rules as I've never bothered looking at them closely

In a car set up "right" with a right side net and halo seat, I'd think you want to hit front passenger corner. But I dunno.
