Default NASA at Mid Ohio

The racing at Mid Ohio in GTS-2 was great this weekend. The gts-2 track record was broken and many people set personal bests. The best time in qualifing was a 1.36.8 by Scott Good on the pro course!! That is GTS-3 territory!! I ran a 1:38.7 which is my pb there. All the 2 cars had large wings and splitters.

That sucks. That's not really sweetening the deal for me to "cross-over" and try some NASA races... NASA GTS and stock PCA seem to be getting further and further apart.

I would agree the gap is getting larger as NASA allows more progression in the car as long as you stay below 14.5 lbs/hp for gts.

GTS was never meant to be a spec series. Development will continue to push the cost of being competitive in this series.

Yeah, don't get me wrong... I think progression is good. It's just not the car I've built and unfortunately trying to do both (NASA and PCA) seems to be getting more and more unlikely... Or at least doing both competitively...

It was fun racing with you Mike. FYI on competing in PCA, many of the wings are removable for double duty. My wing can be replaced with a gurney flap for PCA.

If you have any video, I would like to see my first race spin and re-start in front of you. My camera broke on Friday and I have nothing.

Unfortunately, the days of having a competitive cross-over car for the PCA stock classes and NASA GTS are over. Yes, you can remove and replace wings and splitters, but with the pace of development in the series right now it will take more than that to be competitive in GTS. At this point it would be totally impractical to convert the winning GTS 2 car back to the point where it could run in its PCA stock class.

My 968 is a PCA E class car. It used to be very competitive in GTS 2 with nothing more than ballast removal. Those days are gone.

If you run in the GT classes in PCA you might be able to cross over successfully

Not with the correction factor and minimum weights given to the 968 relative to the 911's

I think it can still be done. Yes GTS allows almost anything, but removing a wing and splitter is easy, plus the GT classes open the doors. The GT times for the 44's are not very fast IMO. Don;t forget the shocks and gearing too.

That said, the conditions were good and the times dropped. GTS2 was smoking as was GTS1. All three podium finishers Saturday beat the previous track record in GTS1. I bested my personal best time from last year by 2.6 seconds, 2.4 seconds better than the previous track record, and I was down on power.

When do we go back?
