ALMS - RECORD SETTING FIELD FOR LONG BEACH GP
"The field for Long Beach is the largest for a non-endurance-length race
in the Series since 2003 and is also the biggest at the circuit for the
Series since its first race there in 2007. The grid is the largest of
any kind at Long Beach in 15 years."

TELEVISED?!...I got my tickets in the mail!...used to be the transAm race was the best but the ALMS is a gas on this track...Indy is just bonus...this is going to be interesting with the number of cars and the wide speed differentials, I think we're going to see some challenge cars becoming speedbumps in the walled sections of the track....

They take the whole parking area around the aquarium and the exhibit hall for Indy and what used to be formula BMW, the ALMS paddock get the leftovers but its a cool venue being all in the area. Obviously not Monaco, but for a street race theres some interesting vantage points. Indy is pretty sleepy but the ALMS race is worth it. It almost doesn't matter what class the cars are in, the challenge cars, both GT and prototype, will force some issue in traffic which will make it cool. A few years back the race with the Gentilozzi Jags was a phenominal race down to the end...watching the celebs jamb toyotas into the walls is just part of the circus...ooh... maybe this year "bill & Ted's excellent adventure" will use priuses with throttles jambed on full...sweet...

SIDE-TRACKED BY KEANU... OR DANICA?
If you had gotten 'past' Danica... the site also has the 2010 LBGP Circuit Map --
2010 LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT MAP
. . . and further parking info 2010 LBGP PARKING INFO
This road track holds a special fondness --
The pit on Shoreline is where I made my IMSA / ALMS Pit Radar gun operating debut! Kind of a warm feeling being on the 'other side' of the gun... But high stakes!
A different 'fondness' than time at Siebkens with you and yours, however!
Are you and Lorelai planning for Road America again??
Best,
Kim

Actually, it's a wash. P1 and P2 merge to become a single prototype class. GT1 is also gone. So whereas we would traditionally have 2 prototype (P1, P2) classes, and 2 GT (GT1, GT2) classes, we will have 2 prototype classes (LMP, and LMPC), and 2 GT classes (GT2 and GTC).

My trip down memory lane... or rather, down the SoCal street track.
ALMS Premiere year at Long Beach, 2007... Pit Radar:
Felt like I was in-training for one of 'Charlie's Angels!'
Hey Chris -- not sure you knew I had that 'job', eh? Fun times!
