I highly doubt that is a stock motor, you pulled my Duramax on the straights..

A further thought: I believe that these cars (996 and 997 GT3's) can go even faster than this, but w/o a full cage et cetera, IMO nobody should. I can imagine the consequences of a rear tire blowout at the top of the Esses in a GT3 with only a single roll hoop, compared with Peter Collins suffering the same fate last May in the club race in a 996 GT3 Cup with full factory cage. He walked away uninjured. I doubt anyone in a street GT3 woould be so lucky....

VR, I have driven 7's and 6's and the 7 is easily faster. At 10/10th's maybe a little less, but the 7 is a lot more tame and the power is intoxicating.

What a great event!

I'm still in a big high from it.

Yup, so have I, and I agree 100%. The 6 gets walked on the straights by the 7 easily, and in the hands of a good drover, handles better & is more predictable in the corners, too.

This is my second season with a full cage and it's the best money I've spent on insurance so far. VR, you hit the nail on the head with this post. Anyone who thinks their single hoop is offering them real protection in any high powered car, is sadly mistaken.

Cups and Saucers in one of my favorite events of the year, and has gotten better with the new management at HCP.

Thanks. These cars are SO fast, and they gatther speed SO quickly, the consequences of something beyyond the driver's control at a place like the Glen (or anywhere, really) are high. I will admit on Friday, I was slightly nervous the first dry session with my Friday client in his 6 GT3....but then I came to realize that he is a highly skilled driver, who was way ahead of the car. I relaxed and knew we could really make progress by working more on mindset than base skills. However, in the back of my mind, as we went up the Esses at maximum attack, was what happened to Peter a year ago.

That - the intensity of thrill & fear, in essence, is what defines the Glen!

One of the reasons that I sold my GT3 & got a properly caged RSA racecar. If/when I get another GT3 it will be a cup or have a full cup car style cage in it.

True...however, it is slightly magnified in the right seat, I assure you!

I had a great time at the event. It was my second.

By the way, I found driving in the rain on Wednesday to be very instructive. I learned a lot about my car and really enjoyed. Either I got better, or the C4S is especially suited for rain.

The event ran perfectly and I will be coming back next year.
