looks like the totally enclosed top fuel dragster don garlits campained a few years back.
don't remember how it did, but from what i see now, some of the ideas have been incorporated into modern top fuel cars.

is that for land speed record pursuits?
actually that tail is a great idea. put a vertical control surface on it, so when they have an oversteer or 200mph slide, the tail can straighten it out.

I can't for the life of me understand how that thing can get sufficient grip on the front end. Looks ridiculous to me.

Hmmm. That could be really exciting under trail braking. Let's see, apply the decel forces through the CG and it looks like that could be outside the front wheels. Doesn't seem like it would be stable in that condition. Nor does it seem like it would turn very well.

Na na na na na na na na, Batman.
Presenting the new Batmobile.
Narrow front tires. So how much grip can they generate if they use canted wheel steering.
(front wheels lean into the turn like a motorbike).
Saw some video somewhere of concept cars (Mercedes?) that used canted front wheel steering.

How is this considered an "open wheel" car?
Of course huge aero improvements can be achieved when the front track is chopped in half & wheels are covered, how stupid do they think we are?
Why bother with a fuel flow regulator, when the same could be achieved by limiting the amount of fuel used?
My 1st thought was "no way this will turn". But this virtual demonstation removes any doubt:

Ok, my turn. That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Looks like it was designed by a bunch of video gamers who know nothing about the laws of physics. Even the Brits got it right with a 3 wheeler Morgan by putting the single wheel IN THE BACK. HELLOoo! With no front track it is destined to tip on any kind of trail-braking what-so-ever. Ever drive a 3 wheeled ATV - wonder why they don't make them anymore? SO the designer says that they'll put the CG and center of aerodynamic pressure in the back. Wonderful, that should make it handle great. And how do you pass someone with an *** thats 3 times the width of the nose? That would be a complete crash-fest.
After 2 1/2 hours of clearing snow today and probably 2 more later tonight I feel cranky.

One look at that layout and all my instincts scream WRONG!!
In fact, it looked like something a kid might draw in design school. A bit embarassing for IRL to be seriously considering somethign so laughable, right?
But here's a thought. The designer is Ben Bowlby, who was one of Lola's ace designers with some remarkable cars to his credit. If he ever gets to build it, maybe it would suprise us all?
Larry.....I definitely feel your pain! The top of the net in the center is 36"
