Default Very few halo seats in Daytona GT cars?

While watching Daytona I was surprised to see that most of the GT cars did not use halo seats, instead employing only a right side net. The TRG cars were the only ones I remember seeing the halo and a right side net.

Why would so many cars not run a halo? Visibility on the banking?

Friend of mine got rid of his halo seat because he said it interfered with his visibility.

Have you run the yellow 944 lately?

GrandAm now requires left side nets along with the right side nets. If you set them up correctly they can be very effective in containing lateral movement of the head from what I've seen and been told by some of the gurus.

I posed the same question to Andy Wallace when they were testing the Crawford DP car a couple of years ago before they were required to have 'halo' systems. The reason they didn't have more than a lower seat shell was to help facilitate a speedy driver change.

.
I love to see pictures of a good left side net. Also, maybe in small cockpits the head is retained by hitting the padding on the head area cage bars. That maybe not much different from hitting you head on padded rigid wings? Also, less stuff in the way would make for a speedy exit in an emergency.

thinking more about tis, surely it takes longer to put the left side net in than it does to get into a halo seat?

Does anyone have a good picture handy of the left side net? At 6'7" it's hard to find a good fit in a seat, much less get the halo in the right place. This could be another reason for it - different size drivers and that's one more fixed part of the seat to try and overcome when switching.

No matter the seat the left side net is a GrandAm requirement. You have to run it.

I couldn't find one but if you call the guys at www.safetysolutionsracing.com they'd be able to give you all the info about them. Trevor has spent a lot of time and testing regarding side nets and produces the best ones on the market IMO.
