Boxster S model for NASA GTS

Just my opinion but the lighter the car the more fun to drive. So going GTS2 would require a ton of ballast. I think it's a natural fit in GTS3.

Personally If running in GTS2 means lots of ballast or running GTS3 means never being close on power/weight... i would swap the motor to a 2.7 (ditch the hp!) or go fiberglass to bring weight down to be ok in GTS3. Which one I chose depends on my racing budget.

Started some stripping last night, I put the car on the scales as somewhat stock, it has wheels, different muffler, stereo ,etc and it weighed in at 2804 lbs. after I stripped a little it was at 2630. There is still lots more to come out but then I will still have to add back in a top, rollcage, harnesses, fire system etc.
I will update as it progresses.

Definitely a GTS 3 car. If you like to travel, the Great Lakes region has a healthy supply of GTS 2 & 3 cars that are very quick. Mid Ohio - April 10-12th is the season opener. Come on up!

I say GTS3 as well. My car pushes 227 rwhp and is quite competitive in GTS3 in the SE. Car is a bit slower at top speed but better under braking and cornering than some of the heavier M3's I run against.

My big problem is that as a team we already have a GTS3 car, and 1st & 2nd place doesn't as nice as 1st & 1st place.
So do I make this something else other than GTS3, or bump the other car up a class and make the Boxster a GTS3.

The other option is to bump that 911 GTS3 car to GTS4. Or you could try to run the boxster in GTS4 as super build.

Just thinking out loud here. If the 911 is a competitive and complete GTS3 I would not alter it or spend money building that. I would concentrate effort and money on the one car you are already building. How much is a 2.7? I don't think they are much. Keep all the S stuff and drop the power? Is there a way to drop power on the existing engine. I hear tell that a lot of M3 guys use restrictors to power down but an added benefit is that it ups torque (uh oh, did I start TQ vs HP again?). I'm not a mechanic so I don't know the specifics on how they do it.
One thing I have experienced while running my 86 911 as a GTS 2 is that the post 1990 BMW's (any variety of 3 series including M) have MUCH MUCH better brakes. I'll admit to not being the best guy on the brake pedal but those Bimmers only a few years newer have a very big advantage there. The Boxster, particularly with S brakes, could easily match the BMWs.
Just my $.02
You have an opportunity to build a killer car for any class you want. I'd do that rather than start taking apart the 911.

It would be really easy to re-flash the ECU to limit top end HP, and still keep all of the torque.
