Default Harris Hill Road - Noobie Advice

Rennlisters,

An addiction was formed. After years of karting and autocrossing, I did my first DE last November, and have been busy planning events ever since.

Im headed to H2R this weekend for my first DE at that track...

Of course, I've poured over the YouTube videos of the track, but I'd love some additional feedback / advice / tips... regarding especially tricky sections, etc. (Im driving a stock 996 C4S on PZeros, if that influences anyone's comments)

Thanks in advance. I just picked up the GoPro HD... so I'll hopefully capture some decent video out there...

I have driven & coached there many times, both clockwise & CCW. IMO, just learn the track, and follow your instructor's advice. There are a couple of fast ways around some of the sections of HHR, some more stable than others. I am not sure it makes sense to go into any detail about them until you have actually driven the track.

Please PM me if you have any specific questions.

It's a fun track, only has a couple of short straights, not really a horsepower track. As above, have one of the local instructors show you around. Have fun!

Some general comments about track condition, not about lap records.

T1 is quite fast, leave yourself some room on exit for safety until your comfortable, and to get back to mid-left track for T2.

T3/4 shorten the line, don't bother swinging far outside, it's slower and doesn't leave one room for error.

T6 watch for the new bumps on exit

T8 bumps at tight inside apex and at exit coming up on curbs, try one car width off of inside track edge, but street suspension should handle it fine either way

Houstonians - about how long (at a reasonable rate) does it take to get to San Marcos?

Any known speed traps?

Default - follow up videos

Thanks to all for the tips! The weekend was great - challenging track, and the opportunity to make new friends (and ride in their RS)

Here is my first attempt at making/posting a video... not my best lap, but at least one without too much traffic drama.

I like this camera angle the best (off the "b" pillar)...
