Default As Spectator: 24 of Daytona or Sebring?

Looking to break up the bleak midwinter with a trip to either Daytona or Sebring.

Which is more fun as a spectator?
Will there be enough of an ALMS field to make it interesting?

Thanks for your input.

Can't speak for Sebring, but I've been to Daytona 24 hours. It's a lot of fun and the nice thing about Daytona is you can sit high enough in the grandstands to see the whole track, something you don't get at a lot of road courses. I like the ability to watch two cars duke it out all the way around the track.

Unfortunately, this is my busy season at work, so not an option for me.

Sebring, without question. For both the the "freakshow" nature of the spectator infield, and the variety of cars in the competitor paddock.

And you get all day Sunday to sober up.

I prefer Daytona. The best places to view: 1) Braking Zone for turn 1 at night 2) the fast left-hander in the infield 3) Nascar turn 4 right after the green comes out (after a full course yellow).

Unlike Sebring, most years you don't need a rainsuit.

Sebring, hands down. To me, Daytona 24 is a bit of bore.

If you do Sebring, be sure to show up Thursday. Lots of great racing all day on Friday and Saturday.

Never been to Daytona. First Sebring was 2008. Flights are booked for #3 WAHOOOOOO. I roll in through the gates Wednesday night and camp in turn 10 with 8 other guys. No grandstands at Sebring. The only stands are at the end of the last turn. But ...it is too much fun. Actually the group I have been with from Sebringfans.com bring thier own grand stand and set it up right at the fence at turn 10.

I say Sebring. The weather for Daytona can be too cold for a FL getaway.

My vote is Sebring, namely because I will be there this year.

I live in Central FL so I go to both.

I'm an hour away from Daytona, so I don't have much of an excuse not to. It's the first race of the season and it offers a lot of photo ops for me. The worst thing about the venue is the DIS rent-a-cops. B-R-U-T-A-L. With all the NASCAR, B.S. Fan Zone and all that, DIS is really not that fan friendly.

Sebring by contrast is a rough facility, but it still has all the character that made it what it is. You should plan to be there as many days as possible. No later than Fri., but Thurs. gets you a lot of access in the paddock before the major herd arrives.

That said, I will be in Daytona in two weeks.

It can get down into the 40's at night at Sebring mid march. It did last year. Actually it got pretty cold and windy Saturday night last year.

That is what is good about Sebring and the ALMS... Fan access to the teams. Before the race the front straight is packed with fans up close next to the cars and the teams, including drivers.

Last time I went, two years ago, Daytona opened pit row to everyone one hour prior to the race. Great photo ops, chance to get pics of the drivers and team as many of the pro photographers were doing team pics and of course, a chance to get close up to the cars. It's also a chance to walk on the front straight since they open the fence to allow fans to take a shortcut to the outer grandstands.

This year will be my first 12 Hours. Been there plenty of times for the 48 Hours club race, but never to the pro race.
