Default Impressive new video camera/recorder

Here's one of the best things I saw at PRI last December.

Camera/recorder in a very small package for $189.
Its beautifully made [in the USA], and rugged. Three hour record time on internal battery, takes a micro SD card for video storage, charges via micro usb connector. The rear cover unscrews to access the SD card and the usb connector. Nicely machined Aluminum case. Positive on and off buttons that are specifically designed to be operated with gloves on and with cell-phone style vibration feedback when they are pressed.
Comes with four mounts, including a roll cage/bar mount. Two LEDs beside the lens confirm power on/recording.

More details at http://www.stableimaging.com/v1/Re-Play_XD/index.html

SI is also working on a HD version which we will see later this year. Great guys, and very nice quality product. No association etc.

Be a nice addition to use for pedals or out the back for those "punted" moments... wonder how it is in low light (pedals)?

Any idea what video format it uses for recording?

Any idea how is it aimed? I didn't see any kind of viewing panel to check what's in it's len's view.

My thoughts exactly. I'm thinking it would be pretty easy to just duck tape a mini flashlight to it without adding much bulk or weight.

I've been using something similar for a couple of years for the rear view

How much recording time out of that battery and how long to recharge?

With a lens opening that small, it's probably not very good in low light.

We have 100 of these coming as soon as they are available. They are currently in production at the manufacturer.

A few answers:

Low light: It performs surprisingly well. Here's a clip from the camera mounted on J D Almendinger's kart at the PRI kart race.
http://www.stableimaging.com/v1/gall...inger_580.html
The lighting conditions were challenging, from extreme glare to near darkness.

Video format: MJPEG in an avi wrapper. 620x480 frames at 29.7 fps

Sound: There's a mic with auto gain control built in

Recording time: 3 hours 3 hours

Charging time from dead flat: 1.5 - 2.0 hours 1.5 - 2.0 hours

Aiming: If you take a close look at the pic above, you'll see an LED either side of the lens, one blue and one red. These are the horizontal axis of the frame, and they actually project light out to help get the horizontal level when mounting the camera. You can always record a short clip and check it for accurate aiming on your PC.

I took Bill Love over to see it, and from what Mark says Bill ordered 100 on the spot. Guess Bill was impressed too!
