Great race guys! I think we should have a new topic about this to not stray too far off topic on the other thread.
We had a few close calls of stopped traffic on the circuit, but overall it was quality. Turn 1 was a bit of a wild one with Sean and Tom coming together and then collecting some other cars.
I'm looking forwards to the next one! What's the next cicuit Kevin, or are you going to keep it a surprise?

Yep, that was a good race. I was lucky enough to get the lead into T1 (looked like the polesitter might have missed a shift), but I spun coming out of the toe of the boot on lap 1 and never sniffed the lead again.
Mike - my setup is a G25, with the pedals taken out of the case and top-mounted in a cheesy garage-built frame sitting under the desk. The PC is just a 4 year-old 3Ghz dual-core with 3 gb of RAM and a 9800 GT video card. Nothing fancy, but it runs iRacing reasonably well if I turn off some of the details.
When's the next race?

G25 on an HP Touchscreen. Runs about 50fps during a race like that.
I have access to a couple of chassis setups at VIR but I'm not sure what the internet strength is like. We have the site license where we don't need a connection on those.

Nothing, well almost nothing sucks worse than passing a guy who spun and having him pass you back ! So I've heard.

The first event for the Rennsport Racing League was held last night featuring the Corvette C6.R at Watkins Glen. An international field took the grid at 9pm EDT. After a tough first corner (more on this later) the field stretched out a bit. Brandon Davis lead from green flag to the checkers with Justin Lewicke bringing home second. Kevin Bobbitt was running a strong third after starting seventh until he t-boned a stationary car at the top of the esses (at approximately 161mph) that was being piloted by Vito Valentino. After a tow to the pits, some major repairs and a change of underwear Bobbitt managed to battle back to finish 5th. Third place was taken by Gary Radocchio followed by Gary Miller in 4th.
Chris Considine, designer of the famed CXC simulator finished 6th with Sean Siff coming in 7th. Both drivers were involved in the turn one incident on lap one along with Tom Bobbitt. Joseph Cooley was the final car to take the checkered flag as several others were too damaged to finish. The official finishing order for the rest of the field has Tom Bobbitt taking 10th, Brian Skinner 11th and Rob Slonaker 12th.
Post race discussions indicated that everyone enjoyed themselves so there will no doubt be more races in the RRL.
Results are attached.
Stewards Report:
After a post race review of the turn one incident involving Tom Bobbitt, Chris Considine and Sean Siff it has been determined that the cause of the wreck was overly aggressive driving by Sean Siff. As such, Mr. Siff has been placed on probation for the next three races in the RRL. Any further incidents involving aggressive driving by Mr. Siff, while on probation, may result in more severe penalties including suspension, buying lunch or beers for the league or any other penalty the chief steward sees fit.
Thanks for joining us for the race!

Since there are two threads about this I'll just stick to this one. I did save a replay but it is too large to email. I'll need to convert and post on youtube. I'll try to attach results here.

I run a G25 with a brake mod that converts it to a load cell so the pedal is pressure sensitive instead of position sensitive. Wheel is attached to a PlaySeat for a better seating position. Alienware PC with framerate well over 120 during the race

Can't do Wednesday but Tuesday works. If not, will get the next one.. I run a G25 with a 350mm wheel adapted to it, home built 3.0 0OC'd to 3.6Gz, 8GB, Vista 64, ATI 4870 2GB, 22" Flat screen CRT.
How about Lime Rock in SRFs? Should be a close race.

I would like to suggest a track and car combination that isn't a current or recent official series. Maybe there could be an announcement of the track and car a few days before so everyone has time to refine the setup and get up to speed, but the guys running the regular series won't have a head start.

That's fine but also keep in mind new guys aren't going to spend $25 each race to buy a special car and track too. I know at least two of us had to buy the C6R last night, which is fine, but if it comes to $$ every race there will be a lot dropping out..
