Default DTM Roll Cage????

Look at this debris hit Ralph Schumacher's car. And it just buckle. Then watch at about 5:25 how they just pop it back out again.

Pause it at 5:49 as another Mercedes pulls out of the pits. You can see the cage is a foot or more behind the A pillar bodywork. The driver is *way* back too, his head is behind the B pillar.

But yeah, that was odd.

The cage doesn't extend up to the windshield. The driver is in the back seat, no reason to have all that weight up there. Freeze the video at 5:49 and look at the bars through the door. The front bar is about a foot behind the top of the windshield.

Edit: I type too slow.

At the front roof line and the top of the dashboard, where the windshield collapse stopped.

I Love DTM, but its still funny that there is probably not a single peice on the car that is used from the factory car. Still some of the fastest and most advanced cars in the world IMO.

Why did he pull in the garage for that "work" when it looks like a guy could have just reached in and popped it up like they did with a stop and go?

I'm sure they are excited about the few thousand people who will actually tune in to watch. Besides, DTM is just NASCARized road racing with CF instead of metal...nothing shared with an actual street car. Sounds like a series that belongs on Speed.

I just watched it on TV, they cut out the shot of the mechanic reaching in and popping the roof out.

I watched it (the event with Schumacher's car) and wondered the same thing...
Only I didn't get to see the crewmen pop it back out.
