Has anyone run a Rotora big brake kit on here?

I looked into them when I was searching for big rear brakes on my old car. I believe rotora was one of the brands where you can only use their brand of pads. Huge turnoff for me as pad selection is a major issue.

I asked about the pad thing today. You are right. For the most part, you are committed to their pads and rotors. He did say there was some options depending on the shape of the pad. For simplicity, sounds like it would get complicated using anything but their stuff. It did appear they offer a wide range of pad compounds similar to what pagid sells though.

Any idea what's involved with the GT3 upgrade? Or the cost? I wonder if that crashed GT3 is still down there? That had good brakes on it didn't it?
This is a smoking deal on these Rotoras (essentially dealer cost at $2500) for front and rear including everything.

hi.
i don't know anything about the 'Rotora' brakes, but i do know that Porterfield will make you any pad shape you want, with options for many different compounds.... the brake kit i designed for my racecar uses Mazda Millenia S dual piston front calipers -- there are no racing brakepad manufacturers out there who make pads for the Millenia S. porterfield just asked me for the shape of the pad, and they lasercut the backing plates for me and bond on the compound of my choice (in this case, i prefer Raybestos ST-43 compound). cost is around $250 to $260 per set; a little less if i order 2-3 sets at a time. if you really like this particular brake kit, i wouldn't let the fact that the pads are a 'special' shape stop me from buying it...
good luck.

there is a local bmw m3 race car that had rotoras. the new owner promptly changed them over to stoptechs. the owner mentioned he did not like the feel nor had enough stopping power (rotora pads)
my stoptechs have been great (race use) and pads are readily available in pagid and PFC compounds.

cheap and brakes usually are not a good combo. for your car the fronts are really all you are going to be needing and the prices for the GT3 set up from say Suncoast are very reasonable, check with Sara at Vortex or ViperBob he could hook you up.

Guess I'll pass on the Rotoras for now. I'd hate to buy them (even at a discounted price) to find out that my stock setup works better. That would be painfully disappointing!

I wonder what's involved with putting GT3 brakes on a C2 996? I found a complete package, but I haven't been able to find out what it takes to make the conversion.

Excuse me, but what is wrong with stock 996 C2 brakes? A buddy races one (he posts here) and I assure you, the car is not short on brakes....
