Maybe you mean S4 cause no RS4 convertible. Paolo, get over the fact that you don't like Bimmers and go try the M3 sedan. It beats the RS4 for the price of an S4. My buddy drives his all year round and really no problem in the snow.

i have had S4 S6 and driven RS4 extensively as well as E92/90 M3.
i am not fund of either brand, but if i am forced to waste my money on these things, the M3 is way way way ahead of RS4 and depreciates less.

I had one of the first RS4s, and while the car has a lot of appeal visually and viscerally; there were a few glaring limitations.
1) I have driven manuals all my life, but I was not happy with 4/5 shift (and vice versa)..it was not precise enough for me.
2) While a 4 door, it is very small in the interior, and the ingress/egress for the driver is cramped... try it, and then see how wonderful the 911 is (Cayman is cramped too)
3) The front end is heavy
4) The brakes are OK but not up to Porsche level.
5) The fit and finish is wonderful
6) The sound is intoxicating
7) The "day to day" performance is excellent....
But I sold mine after 2 months and went back to a 911
YMMV

Paolo, I think it is a smart idea to get a 'sporty' car that accomodates the entire family. Giving up some 'real' sports car feel and handling is a small price to pay to be able to take the whole family out for spin.
You have a race car. The Cayman, as nice as it is, is a limited use vehicle.
Audi, BMW and Mercedes all have nice options to fill the bill. Get a cab.

I had fun instructing in an RS4 at Mid Ohio a couple of years ago. Great fun for two of the three days, until it ate (corded) its tires at the end of day 2. Pig heavy, but fun.

Don't think you'll regret it. Also a very cool gadget for the M3 is the motorsport alcantara steering wheel with the small screen and shift lights.

You might want to take one of the new S4's out for a spin, lighter, bigger. I live somewhere with crappy weather and I would not give up AWD for anything in winter. I thought about trading my S6 wagon on an RS4 but the back seat is worthless.

I wanted the A5, but couldn't wait and jumped on an Infiniti G37 in September.
