Default Are repair parts available for BBS LM or RS-GT wheels?

I am thinking of BBS LM or RS-GT wheels and was told by a vendor that, if I should bend a rim half or crack a center, that parts are not available, necessitating a complete wheel replacement. I found this information to be astonishing, especially in light of this thread from a few years ago: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...and-where.html

What's the scoop? Thanks for any help!

Mark why don't you just call BBS. I have talked with these people in the past and they were helpful.

(800) 422-7972 Number for Braselton, GA headquarters.

Call BBS as suggested, but I don't think there are any user parts for sale. They might be able to fix them.

Thanks, Randy. I'm going to call this morning. I wanted to get an answer last night.

I'm flabbergasted that it would appear that you can't obtain repair parts for the LM's or RS-GT's. Thanks, 930.

Mark,
I live 10 minutes from their headquarters. If you need something picked up and shipped or looked at let me know I'd be happy to check it out for you.

Unless Bob got some in, he's been super low or out on BBS (race) wheels parts over the past couple of years. I've never been able to get any from him.

Repair options are a large part of why I am instead trying to source E88's. Will cost more, but I think they're worth it. Then again, they are 2X the cost new...

I have a call into Woodman already based on previous recommendation.

Are there any other US-based shops that you'd recommend to source from the Motorsports line? A Rennlist sponsor (or member) would be even better.

Thanks for any input.

Best,

Matt

Default Gentle bump

Mark, have you been able to answer your original question definitively?

re. the Motorsports alternative, I'm surprised there are no other sources recommended here from those that have personal experience... are these wheels rare/obscure or am I missing something?

Matt,

According to BBS, the LM and RS-GT are "street" wheels and do not have replaceable parts. The BBS guy I spoke to said they were trying to get BBS to allow the parts to be replaced, but, at this point, if you bend a rim, you buy a new wheel. Also, FYI, the LM and RS-GT have clear-coated rims (and clear-coated centers). This means I can't use my pressure washer's pinpoint setting to blast off any brake crud like I could with my FIkses. I knew there was a reason I liked Fikse . . .

That said, I am likely to go with the back-ordered LM's. I think the likelihood of Fikse being bought by an investor and resurrected is very high, but I can't wait six months for it to happen.

The BBS E88's are silly expensive. At that cost, I may as well get the LM's and, if I bend a rim, just buy a new one. After five years, I think I'll be ahead of the game in terms of outlay.

Sure wish the CCW C2K's looked better to my eye.

Good point. Although what I am struggling with is establishing a competitive price for E88's...I know list is high, but they do not seem to have anywhere near the transparent dealer network (compared to the street wheels) required to establish a fair market price.

Hence the interest in finding a RL recommendation for good price AND service...

Best,

Matt
