Default Speed WC GT predictions

I think Sofro and the other porsches are going to give the volvos a run for their money here. But, dont count out my friend Kip, in the monster NSX, though he will be saddled with about 400lbs of weight to meet the class spec for his car. (something related to the PD cunningham blown nsx I imagine)

they are on track right now, doing some unofficial practices.

It would be fun to see another privateer up front.

Kip is really good, and his times and consistancy is a known quantity now. BUT, going from hoosiers, (1 second) and the added weight, he might be lucky to get into the 1:33s, which should give him a top 5 to 8 finish if I was to guess. (he has run 1:29.8 on hoosiers and 2650lbs with driver). Its a beautiful car and will add a lot to the show to see him out there! (Even with his 225 front tires! )

Update: Just heard that Mike Davis ran into the wall out of the corkscrew, car pretty bad, but fixable, and Pilgrim crashed at turn 4. A crash with a $250k car during a unoffical practice?

Practice is practice. Any reports on the cause of the crash? Broken part? Boneheaded move by another driver? Just ran out of talent?

Also, ha ha at that being a $250K car.

More like a $700,000 car.

They generally don't publish anything from a promoter test day.

I don't think anyone is paying enough attention to WC to make predictions. The coin flip and swicharoo TV schedule has pretty much ruined all of my interest. And makes any predictions all but useless.

I like Randy Pobst even though he is not driving a Porsche SWC car this year.

I heard Kips car will be competitive....the weight-boost #'s World GT gave "them" to run ends up being pretty decent...but I didn't hear 400+lbs either...I think it was 1 bar boost...which is what Kip normally runs...so I would say he could run a 1:32 on DOT's at laguna....granted he is a very skilled driver too

Running out of talent was the only thing causing the incidents today.

Ha ha is right. I think Kip car is around that much, but the rest, who knows. Im sure you could buy Sofros car for $200k if you had a check handy.

I didnt get the final word on the adjustements. I have a hard time believing that they let him run the same weight and boost, but we will find out after official practice tomorrow. If he is smart, he will hang back a little.

Practice has started, and the practice times are pretty quick, in the 1:30s for the top 5. kip is just out of the top 10 with a 1:32 and in the touring group, Seth has run a 1:38.8 , and is mid pack of the 7 cars running ( I think the top time so far was a 1:38.1 by Lindsey in the mazda) There are so few cars this year, they are combining the GT and touring groups for practice. Heck, I think they should do a 2 class race for that matter! It might be a way to save the series. Nothing wrong with potentially, 40+ car fields, for an hour sprint race in my book!

Sofro has clicked off a 1:29.xx in his speedGT cup car. I think he will probably win the darn race. He has a lot of fast laps here!
