Its right at 9 pounds. Maybe 10. I have one ready to install but waiting on my glass to break. I have an old windshield out of an RSA sitting around that was broken so I used it to weigh for comparrison sake.

A coating put on the plastic after forming that is much harder than the polycarbonate, similar to what is done with eye glasses. It can be scratched but is much harder to do so. Paper towels, your finger tips or even a soft cloth with a little dirt in it will micro scratch uncoated polycarbonate. This leaves fine lines in the plastic that reflect light and make it hard to see through when the sun or lights hits it at the right angles. Fine scratches can be buffed out somewhat. Oil, some glass cleaners and other automotive cleaners like brake cleaners as well as sunlight can damage polycarbonate.

I would not bother with an uncoated windscreen.

I agree on using lexan over glass if it's legal. I replaced my rear hatch and saved 22#'s and when the time comes for the front I will go with lexan WITH a couple of tear offs.

Apex Performance (a site and 944 Cup sponsor) sells a spray coating that is used in the airplane industry to clean and coat the lexan. So far it's worked well for me.

M A Shaw markets a "scratch resistant" poly windshield that they claim can not be scratched by steel wool. Friends who have used it say it is very hard and scratch resistant.

And Deer crap doesn't stick to it!
Actually it does, but it keeps it out of the car, along with the legs, body, and guts.
