Be sure Lexan is legal for your class. Whatever you do, look into a tearoff to protect it. My glass shield is shot every 2 years. Maybe I need to spend more time in FRONT of the pack?

not enough to matter in a stock class IMO. It does move some weight from high up and let you turn it into low ballast. It is very strong when thick enough (3/16 or 1/4) and less likely to let something like a deer through if installed right. I have seen 911 glass fly out during front hits in tire walls.

Just checked the rulebook, Lexan is allowed in stock and prepared classes......
might consider it especially if the 100lbs reduction in the prepared classes passes for 2010.....

If you do decide to stay with glass, and if your car still has auto insurance on it (I doubt it) keep in mind that our friends in MA will provide you with new, FREE windshield replacement if yours needs replacing due to a safety issue (such as chipped, etc.).
Tell me our politician friends didn't get influenced by the auto glass industry!

The lexan windscreen in my car is in its 4th season, is coated with anti fog, and anti scratch and has been great with no vision issues, even in low sun.
