Default All encompassing questions.....

1) How often do you change your motor oil?......

2) How often do you bleed your brakes?.......

3) How often do you flush your brakes?.....

4) How often do you get the car aligned and corner balanced?

Sorry for the naive questions, but maintenance is important for race car longevity....

thanks.....

Change oil after 4 track days
Bleed brakes after every event
Flush brake fluid at least 2x per year, bleeding helps keep fresh fluid in the lines.
Align as necessary.

I change the oil every 10-14 hours of running
Bleed the brakes every now and then during the season, but change the fluid each season (SRF)
Align and corner balance before every race.

Paolo, Stop trying to understand everything you don't know. Let the hairrrry dog take car of the car and you concentrate on condensing your schedule to increase the number of clients in a day to pay for it. Then all you have to do is DRIVE!!!!

1. Oil every 4 days in HOT weather, 6 days otherwise.

2. Before every event.

3. Once each year.

4. Beginning of season, after 4 events (3 times/year) or as needed (been off track?).

The answer for #4 will vary by car and activity.

For my street/track car (not a race car):

- Oil change - every 6-8 track days or 3k miles whichever comes first

- Bleed brakes - don't need to

- Brake flush: twice a year - once at the beginning; and again mid-season. SRF.

- Alignments: ~ 3-4 times in season

3. bleed entire system including clutch 1-2 times a year.

1 -- every 10 hrs racing.
2 -- when i change the front pads (every 6 weekends or so).
3 -- once a year, just before the first race in feb (and i do the clutch fluid at the same time).
4 -- i align before every race weekend, and usually check the alignment in between sat and sun.

i change the tranny fluid once a year, usually before the first race in feb. at this time, i always change and gap the spark plugs and clean the air filter, too.

btw, the above car is naturally aspirated and basically a totally stock power plant (mazda KL V6), except for mild boltons. my turbo powered racecar, on the otherhand, gets the oil changed every weekend and the spark plugs changed every day. there is a huge difference in the maintanence requirements between a NA car and a FI car.

hope that helped!
