Default BBS Motorsports (aluminium) durability

I was initially thinking of Fikse's for combination street/track use.

Any informed opinions on the durability of BBS Motorsports aluminum E88 wheels for limited (3K miles year?) careful street use in addition to track?

Asked another way, would these wheels be any less robust than forged Fikses, CCW's, Forgeline, etc. which themselves require regular upkeep and inspection?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Cheers!

Matt

I would not hesitate to use the BBS aluminum wheel centers on a street car. You'll want to discuss the rim thickness options with BBS though, because they sell 3, 4, 5mm wheel halves and I think the 3mm would not fare well on a street with lots of potholes. I have all three sizes on my race wheels and the 3mm have bent slightly from running curbs where the 5mm still run pretty true.

Mark's right. For street use, order the 5mm rim halves. Anything lighter will bend too readily and may also crack. I've seen 3mm halves crack in track applications.

I could... but it will be pretty hard to resist being the slow car giving point by's with the BBS E88's!

I have run my E88s on the street with no problems at all... they are gold centers (which everyone knows are lighter as well as stronger just by the nature of the gold being so awesome)

CCW makes a 1 piece that is strong and relatively light as well, it's a great wheel for street or when you don't want the occasional curb hop to equal a wheel repair/replacement. As well it is reasonably priced and the CCW guys are great to deal with.

Yup, CCW are consitently recommended for quality and service.

I am heading down the BBS Motorsports path based on strong recommendations that they do in fact build a top notch wheel (albeit at a commensurate price).

Best,

Matt

Besides, nothing looks cooler than black centered BBS E88s on your car.

BBS is the only way to go. The wheels are extremely strong and very well engineered. They are easily serviced and most importantly the customer service is second to none.

Black, Gold, Silver... all good. Depends how 'racy' I feel when I get around to ordering!
