Diveganesh, started a threat about an instructor telling him not to heel toe his turbo, blah, blah, blah. The thread went to the mechanical benefits of heel toe, matching revs, etc.
However, if you really want to save your transmission, double clutching is the way to go. How many racers, DE'ers, track addicts double clutch for your downshifts?

Waste of time and effort on a somewhat "modern" synchro transmission in my opinion. I'm a big believer in removing complications where you can. Good skill to have in your bag for driving vintage and dog box transmissions though, or for fighting a dying transmission. And in the case of a dog box, you're probably checking and replacing parts on a regular maintenance cycle anyway...in many cases, using the clutch at all is a waste of time/energy. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My answer: Everyone should know how to do it, but it's not something you should bother using in every car.

Never once. My feet are too slow. I do heel & toe all the time. In fact I use to skip gears going down, but have been hitting them all at Miller Nationals. Seemed to be more stable and better to get in the car in gear smoothly.

It certainly helps with not only keeping some drag on the rear wheels to create stability under braking, but also it prevents you from needing to make one HUGE blip at the end of the braking zone when trying to blip up the revs from 5th to 2nd gear, etc.

Dennis does a great job here with a 928, but Im still really puzzled as to why bothering to do so. For me, the 928 gear box is pretty cumbersome anyway, I would probably break the thing in one lap, If I tried to do it. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
