Default Mercedes F1 engines

Just thinking out loud....

McLaren seems to have 'rediscovered' the true pace of this year's car via an aero update.
On the surface, OK, but why did it take so long for a team like McLaren to figure it out.

Shortly thereafter, Force India (not exactly a powerhouse financially nor technically) emerges from the back row to the front of the grid, with both Fisi and Sutil...and this weekend with Luizzi.

At the same time, Brawn seems to have 'found temp' for their tires. As an aside, there is talk of Mercedes leaving McLaren (Hamilton is a bit too much like his former teammate, the 2X female WDC) and buying a large stake in BrawnGP next season.

3 teams, all 3 powered by Mercedes, all coming to the front roughly at the same time.

So, conspiracy theorists, what is the probability that Mercedes has somehow introduced a 'reliability' upgrade into their current engine lineup?
IIRC, on the telecast, they said the Mercedes engine is about 20bhp up on anything else on the current grid.

Didn't Matchett say that the Mercedes is 25 HP up on the rest of the engines?

Spec McLaren ECU possible?

Or maybe Mercedes found some extra HP and didn't want it blabbed to everyone. Tilt those wings up to get the grip that you are missing, and we'll get you down the straight just as fast as before.

Wayne, you crack me up on Mondays!! You are the comic relief we all need to start our weeks! I love this weeks new theme of "Rolling the Eyes". Good on ya brother!

Well to be perfectly accurate, it wasn't Hobbs and Varasha that said it, it was Matchett. Eventhough he's been out of the pit lane for a while now, he still seems to have his finger on the pulse of what is going on in the garages. Also remember, the three amigos/deuces could be fed information from Peter Windsor who is every bit the insider and will probably go with either Mercedes or Cosworth engines for 2010.

McLaren is the only Mercedes powered car running KERS.
Still leaves up in the air the story behind Force India and Brawn's 'end of tire temp' slump.

It does seem like a bit of a coincidence at this point in the season.

there was no tire temp slump and the brawns were not as fast as the mclaren ,
as Lewis would have caught Button ( faster pace ) Brawn had the better race strategy and of course Barrichello ...

Force India .... Indian Phooobie dust and a little sarin made the difference ...

Thank you for the expert in depth technical analysis.
I was going to suggest something stupid like perhaps Brawn had altered their front end and aero package (to take advantage of the "increased" Mercedes power) in an effort to aid in tire temps...

Is a 3 day ban in order for calling a "SUPER moderator" a dumb ***?

OT: Lewis, look for an e-mail on a karting subject later tonight. Got to pick your brain on something.

Probably not, too difficult to convince people it's actually incorrect.

Yup. Nitrous + they make the spec ECU wink wink nudge nudge. A wink's a nudge to a blind bat, eh?

To this day I still find it amazing that fellow McLaren competitors have no problem with a spec ECU from an entitiy of McLaren. Wow.
