The broadcast opens with emergency equipment just beyond a 35 mph hairpin. The 77 car is totaled. Nosed into the guardrail. On the out lap, in the drizzle, Karl Edwards, the Nascar hotshot, lost control and totaled the car before the race even started.

Didn't Edwards break his ankle this week? I seem to remember seeing something on Speed.

That was totally FUBAR. A real bonehead move for a professional. That crash has to be one of his most humiliating moment. Watching it made me embarrassed for him.
His co-driver was very kind in his remarks but inside you know what he was thinking.#%^#!!
PS Want me to tell you how it ends?

I seem to remember the following day Carl Edwards chased down Ambrose in the final laps and pushed Ambrose into making a mistake to win the Nationwide race.
Having listened to Edwards speak in the past he comes off as one of the more down to earth NASCAR guys of the current group.

yeah, he stole it from Ambrose. Fred and I listened to the race on the way back from the NJ PCA race in the truck. Was actually a lot of fun to listen to the race on the radio. Edwards won it in the last corner of the last lap in the rain.

I did not see any douche baggery at all. I saw a driver that messed up, knew why he messed up, and took 100% of the responsibility for it.
Sounds more like a stand up guy to me. **** happens, what you do when it does sets us apart.

It was a fun race when tehy weren't under yellow. First time I've ever heard the crowd over the noise of those engines and it happened every time Villeneuve made a pass.
