what do you think of the new ALMS classes

They had to do something. Speculation in the press room is that this move will pull some teams out of Grand AM to ALMS. Would be nice to see that happen.
I would imagine that ALMS has floated a trial ballon with a few principals to gauge interest...

Any changes that open the opportunity for additional mfg's and teams to enter the series is a plus. The more cars on the grid will certainly increase the excitement for spectators. I just hope they spec the cars correctly to maximize equality.

I just hope the Grand Am series rolls up and goes away...prefer ALMS in any form to the France family's NASCAR vision of American road course racing.
Like the new class structure, found this LMP car interesting:
Ginetta-Zytek 09HS (hybrid)
Look forward to seeing the new cars/classes on track.

I wish they'd go ahead and make a full GT3 (challenge) class with all types of cars, there is enough information out there for them to do so and not just start out with cup cars only. But I guess they could still add some other models prior to next season. So I guess the tube frame and non production bits sharing cars are completely out...... I like that.
So should we expect next years GT cars to get slower or faster than today's GT2 cars?

I like it. certainly we dont need two prototype class to take away from the "real" sports cars.
I like the fact that they added the GT Challenge (GT3cup) group. I dont know how they could add more manufacturers to that spec class. Kind of hard for other manufucturers to compete when no one else really has a factory race car. I guess ferrari could run their challenge car.
Im watching the race now. pretty entertaining. Just watched magnussen (Vet) pass bergmeister (RSR) amazing how close these cars are out of the shoot.

I hope they get enough entries in LMP and GT to split them up and re-combine for the longer races. I'd love to see the GT2 class headline a couple races. Maybe will never happen, but would be awesome for sure.

they need unification of the different series . world challenge GT, Grand Am rolex GT and ALMS GT2. Then, all of the cars could run all of the different series. AND, if one wanted to show up at Lemans and run, it could.

I think we need LESS series and better racing within the series we have. I think that the World Challenge GT, Grand Am Rolex GT, IMSA GT3 Challenge should be combined as ALMS GT Challenge....probably with the Rolex Spec being the spec as it's right in the middle of the other two and it would attract A LOT of Rolex teams.

I also agree that it would be great to see just the GT2 cars run a race of there own without the LMP cars on the track.

I think it could be good for ALMS, which I prefer over Grand-Am. (Although. there is some pretty good racing in Grand-Am.) I just hope that in trying to attract the Rolex GT teams ALMS doesn't allow tube-framed platforms. To me that is just fundamentally wrong.
