Thunderhill track video - sounds good!
Official laptime: 2:02.58 This is a new local PCA time-trial class record (in class TT8).
FWIW, this is a normal '03 996 carrera with X74 suspension & GT3 front control arms. Roughly 3,200lbs with driver. MPSC tires.
Enjoy.
same lap with Data overlay:

imagine what times you'll get when you turn it into a race car

That is a nice video. Wish the driver had a red light in the camera FOV so I could see when he/she is applying brakes. Don't know for sure, but I'd guess that the driver has most of his/her track time with the PCA/GGR.
Lots of steering input still in at every exit... not surprisingly.

Just imagine when you get some weight out! Six years ago I was mid 2:03's with the stock class RS America club racer at about 3050 lbs w/ me. I hated when I had to ballast it back into weight for the next lower class.

My thoughts exactly.....but thats getting a little picky..... Still a very impressive time for a stock-ish car..... I'd be VERY happy with that time!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I am pretty psyched with the result myself. Next month points-leader CL and I will go head to head again at TH, and if I can repeat this type of performance then he and I will be tied points-wise and the season will all hinge on the final event at Infineon in October. It's great to have tight competition in my class. We keep swapping tenths back and forth, constantly pushing what these stock-ish cars can do. It's really helped us both improve. Also having another six or so cars a couple seconds behind us in our class keeps the pressure on. My stupid DNF at Buttonwillow really cost me.
To the Black Sheep crew: I know W2W racing would be much more intense, but its just not in the cards for me from a time/money/tow-vehicle perspective. Time Trialing is the perfect blend for me at the moment, so your woolys are safe.
Exit of T9: Maybe there's an inch or two, but then you're on that exit berm, which ends abruptly and leaves you on the dirt. Been there, done that. But i agree T9 is one of the main keys to good laptimes at TH.... so every inch counts. I'll have to look at my data to see if this lap was any slower than my others through the T9 segment.
Personally, if i were being picky about this lap, I'd say on entry to T5 & T6 I cheated-in a bit early, and the apex of T15 should have been hit harder. But I can't argue with the laptime.

what i was referring to was the exit of the sequence of turns, where you end up to the left, down the hill. (dont recal the turn number, might be 9 or 10 before the downhill stretch. (1:21 in the video) by narrowing your exit you lose a little of the down hill run. Just something I found to gain on competitors in that section, until they figure it out.

I tried 5 new lines last race out, from comments on my videos. there were trade offs with all of them, not resulting in any time differences. However, it would have been REAL interesting to have actual telemetry, GPS data to really see what the trade offs were. Thats the next step in my program, for sure.
