Default quieting straight pipes

I have a new toy being delivered tomorrow. The only problem is that it has straight pipes on it and I am going to want to drive it when it shows up.

Is there something I can do to muffle the noise so I don't **** off all the old farts in the neighborhood?

Ex-C class racer Bill Walczak went to Home Depot and wired on some Insinkerator sink traps when he couldn't make the sound requirements.

These little Burns mufflers are the ****. They are very light, unrestrictive and yield good power (hp and tq) on the dyno and sound great IMO- though definitely still on the loud side.

I run these with headers (only) now.

A turbo muffles the sound quite a bit . . .

Seriously, it depends on what it is. I have bolted a few mufflers on cars temporarily to make noise limits before. What is it and maybe I can offer better advice.

I used to push it down the block before firing.......today I would roll it out and hit the go button.

What about the banana in the tail pipe trick?

Sorry, just being goofy. Seriously, try the Insinkerators. It's too late to order Car Chemistry inserts.
