Thanks for the info. That still doesn't explai why Patrick Dempsey's rx8 is about 40 % louder than the others. ROFl. That freaking car was ridiculous. The others were a bit louder, but that thing wqas god awful.
Fun race. Anytime Ganassi doesn't win, I'm a bit more pleased.

Leh seems to get better with each race. And he gave a good interview after he handed the car over to Dirk. Congrats to both!

Back when the rotaries were first raced here, about 30 years ago in IMSA, they were the only cars required to run mufflers as they were too painfully loud. I would think they would STILL be required to run mufflers.

THey do still run mufflers but with they way they are tuned and the revs they are pulling it is still a loud car.

Thanks guys...

Im just trying to sit back and take it all in...

We really have to concentrate on the Championship and not just race wins... Altho we've been saying that since Mid Ohio.. and race wins REALLY help the championship!!

Barber will be good for the Pontiac.. 3 of the next 5 we could win though...

The FarnbacherLoles guys have just been INCREDIBLE.... car is awesome to drive...

New 9200rpm limit for the porsches is not high rev?

What is the rev limit of the rotary now? sounds like its shifting at 12,000rpm or something! yeah! got to love the sound!

On a related note, is Ryan Dalziel's last name really pronounce "Dee-all"?

That's what the announcers were saying and I kept thinking that they were talking about someone else.

I thought that the 9200 was just for the DP cars? Penske was slamming into the rev limiter going into turn one all day. I didn't hear any other Porsches doing that. I'm guessing they either had a poorly planned top gear or too little wing. The 12 car was slow all day.

That's an amazing oversight for a team of that caliber. You can't make me believe that a Penske team would not consider the effect of reduced downforce or drafting.

I wouldn't have thought so either, but sure enough it was bouncing off the limiter every single lap towards the end of the tri-oval, just before turn 1.
At first I thought the engine was missing, but I was quickly corrected by a couple of the Brumos guys.

Maybe it's easy to underestimate the draft. When I was there for the 2007 club race my car pulled right to the braking area with about 75 RPM to spare, but when I got into a good draft, I would hit the rev limiter before the start-finish line!

Timo was saying in an interview that the car was set up perfectly for qualifying (which I'm assuming didn't have any drafting), but didn't fully take into account the draft effect during the race.
