FS: Guard GT LSD for 944/951
I am selling a 100% brand new, never out of box 80% lock-up Guard GT LSD for a 944/951. $2,000 plus half of the shipping cost.
This is a Chromoly clutch-type unit. Best one out there for these cars.
Moderators, I see there is a Motorsports Classified section, but nothing for parts and since this LSD is essentially motorsports only, I'd appreciate if you leave this post in this forum.
Thanks,

Is is better on decel, Accel? Both? Or situatonal?

However on the 968 the Guard LSD totally transformed the car in accel and decel, but the 968 did not have a functioning LSD prior to the Guard being installed.

I have been using an open diff in my 944 NA for 9 years now. Never had an LSD in it at all. I have an 88 Turbo S with a factory LSD that is in good shape. However that car is 100% stock so I can't realy compare. I know an LSD is faster and the way to go, but have been in the situation of Buy old suspect factory LSD, Rebuilt factory LSD or just go Guard. For performance gaurd is supposed to be better, but by how much. That is why I would be interested to see how you think the factory one compares.

I believe the Guard has different ramp angles for accel and decel and the factory LSD is symmetric. The Guard is chromoly as well and the plates may be different.

Also the factory one won't stand up to the rigors of racing. Well not in a 951 anyway. Perhaps in a lighter car you might get away with it, but is it worth the time and expense to find out. Buying a factory one, rebuilding it, fitting it and then taking it out to go buy something like this will dig deep into your budget too Joe.
