"I do hope you're right, but here's my point: the recent rift was mainly due to changes to the rules & regs (like budget cap). So Bernie & Max backed down from *that*, not things like where they'll race and who gets what money. Race locations was probably off the table in these negotiations.
Granted, we may have just seen the start of a power shift, but it's still just wishful thinking."
I agree. I don't think you're going to see any concessions made on behalf of the fans in Bernie's lifetime. No lower entry fees for traditional or favorite venues. Even more races in bizarre locations that lack fans. No lowering of ticket prices.
I would have greatly preferred a new formula run by the teams and don't see this as a good thing.
Oh and Max hasn't left yet. We've heard that line before too. That boy will leave clawmarks in the floor when somebody finally drags him out.

I think putting the "list" out there, as they did, was a not too subtle jab at the issue of locations. The only thing that has driven that donkey cart in the past was how many $$ could go into Bernie's pocket. I agree whole heartedly that the teams have now discovered the very real power they have and will use it to exploit all areas that affect them. Some they will be successful with...some not as much...but the reason they do this is partly because it is a walking billboard for them. Location is a PRIME example of where their and Bernie's interests are divergent and thus ripe for a shift towards the constructors.

Interesting to note that whomever controls the Monaco GP came out and said that without Ferrari, there will be no Monaco GP.
Bernie was a complete non issue in their view, Ferrari and FOTA would have been welcome with open arms.
That was an eye opener for me during this whole thing.

I am with the "Bernie lost a lot of standing" crowd on this one. There has been a significant change to the real balance of power that will make itself felt in the fullness of time.
Bernie is not all evil, but he was way overdue for a wing-clipping.
As for Max, well, he was overdue for a permanet grounding.

..the wic-ked witch, the wic-ked witch!!!
I wonder how much Ron Dennis' departure fr McLaren had to do w FOTA unity? He was as much a lightening rod for controversy as anyone else, and the other team principals were strangely silent.
I hope whoever replaces Mosely is a racer and racing fan first, politician second or not at all.
Bernie is in for an interesting time at the next Concorde negotiations. Time to celebrate (almost) with a AAA membership, which I could not stomach before.

It appears that Max is still FIA president. He did not get tossed after all.

Or this...

BREAKING: F1 reunites as Max Mosely reportedly forced to quit F1
After all of this year's soap opera stories in Formula One, it appears there will be a unified championship series next year after all. According to The Times UK, controversial F1 boss Max Mosley has been "forced into a humiliating climbdown as president of the FIA," and his reign is over effective today.
Apparently, with the Formula One Teams Association's (FOTA) plan to build its own breakaway series and take most of its highest-profile (and highest-dollar) draws away with it, the FIA realized that something had to be done. Eight teams, including Ferrari, McLaren, BMW Sauber, and Brawn GP had pulled out of the series over concerns relating to a new £40m budget cap (around $66m USD).
With Mosley's departure effective immediately, F1 teams and the sanctioning body have agreed to cost cuts with the goal of getting spending outlays back down to the that of the early Nineties within two years.
Mosley has agreed to end his 16 year term at the FIA and not seek re-election to another office.
