Andy Lally / John Potter won the Koni Challenge Grand Am race today at the Glen driving the TRG Porsche 997. Congrats boys!! Heard it turned into a demo derby near the end due to rain.

Great result, but I guess a bit of a spoiler, but when will they show it on Speed anyway....maybe next month?
Great for Billy Auberlen to get 2nd and Hand to get 3rd in the two BMWs.
Plus the GTI beat Pobst in a Honda, that's what he gets for driving a Honda, ha.
Sounds like a great wild finish to the race, can't wait to see it, thanks for posting!

I see the DeMan/Ferguson (nee:Paisnel!) Boxster as 36th overall, 17th in Class, 4 minutes down on the class winner, so 2 laps?. It's the only Porsche in ST, we can expect to see them moving up, I'm sure.

OOOPS
Sorry about that.
Definite bonehead move.
I won't let it happen again. I didn't even think that it might be broadcast for some reason. I checked Speed ch. just now and see that it is indeed going to be aired:
6/14/09 - 2:00pm ET
6/18/09 - 3:00am ET
6/19/09 - 12:00pm ET
Sorry,
Phil

Hey All,
The Boxster made its debut at the Koni Challenge ST race at the Glen, the car with DeMan driving was able to keep pace with the top 10, turning a best lap time of 2:11.9 while the winners kept a 2:10-11 pace.
Ferguson qualified the car in 17th place and had a good start only to have the valve stem knocked out of the left front wheel 8 laps into the race by a Chevy Cobalt. A fast wheel change in pit lane (our first as a team) and Dan was back out on the lead lap. BUT.....the Grand Am officials saw Dan roll backwards in pit lane over a hose and then speed away down pit lane...tooo fast...so we got smacked with 2 penalties right off the bat..first was a stop and wait 60 seconds in our pit box, then go back out on the track and come back thru for a drive thru speeding penalty...OUCH..!!! so by the time that was all over we were 3 laps down and just had to chase. Dan put up a good hour and 15 minuets then I jumped in to chase them all down. Passed quite a few and set our fastest time of the weekend.
All in all it was a lot of fun and the Boxster is competitive from the get go.
Watch the broadcast next weekend on Speed..2 PM saturday
Next it's off to Mid Ohio to redeem ourselves..!!

Good stuff Rick. I've been talking with my Rolex buddies about putting one of these cars together for Koni next year, but the mx-5s seem a bit more price practical. I wonder how stable the rules are... what are the weights and engine size in the ST boxster? Any talk about the cayman in ST? Are you runnning the Bosch ECU?
Good luck at Mid Ohio!
