Default VIR Accomodations

I can't find the thread on this...Is it the Sleep Inn that is most convenient and not too bad to stay in?

If you want to stay off site, the Sleep Inn is the closest to the track, and close to a variety of dining options in Danville. It is clean, reasonable, and predictable. Plenty of parking space, even with trailers.

You may want to consider the VIR Lodge, or the rooms above the garages on pit lane, or perhaps the rental Villas at Southbend. All of these are booked through VIR.

Sleep Inn is fine. Best Western virtually across the street is newer, so also worth a look.

Just fyi, we stayed at the Best Western earlier this year and two of our cars were damaged in the parking lot. Somebody stole the emblems off an M5 and tried to take them off my 996. Both cars were scratched and dented on top of missing or ruined emblems. It may have been an isolated incident but left a really bad taste in my mouth being the first time we had stayed there.

Been staying at the Sleep Inn for years now and never had a problem.

Sounds like rotten luck. I suppose it's possible that the criminals might not work the other side of the street, but I wouldn't count on it.

Sleep Inn is fine. If you can get a room away from the lot, it might be quieter.

OK. Thanks for your help guys. I just booked the Best Western on-line. No problem. Seemed to be lots of availability. If someone wants to steal my rental when I'm there, they can have it!

Fryd, one of us should spring for some graphics or we might accidentally drive each other's car

There is a new Marriott Courtyard in Danville at 2136 Riverside Drive. Nice digs. 434.791.2661. My racing buddy and I stayed there last year for the VIR PCA race. It's located toward the eastern end of Riverside Drive, so the drive to VIR takes only about 15 minutes. Some good restaurants in the area. Good luck.

Nobody that's faster than me is allowed to drive MY car! :-)

Didn't get to meet you on the weekend. What number were you? How'd you do?
