Default Cool Shirt Wiring - Electrical Help Request

I'm wiring up my Cool Shirt and am adding a toggle switch. Should I wire the switch to break the hot wire or the ground wire? I usually break the hot but recall reading somewhere that it's better to break the ground.

I'm planning on pulling a hot lead direct from the switched side of my kill switch.

Thanks.

Its a religion thing. You're good either way [but you will be condemned to eternal damnation if you choose the wrong path].

You could always do both! Then electrical salvation and 12 volt Nirvana are guaranteed. (Mines wired for the hot, and I still consider Bob a friend despite his following the wrong electrical path)

Chris, make sure you follow the instructions carefully. If you reverse the wires coming off the pump, it will run but just barely and you won't get the flow you need. Can't remember which color is the ground coming off the pump, but it does matter.

I find it good form to always switch the hot side if I can. With the hot side switched and the switch off you can damage any of the downstream wire and nothing will happen. This is not true with a ground side switch. Even with the device control switch off there is a run of wire that can short, blow a fuse or let it's smoke out and catch fire. Another thing with a ground side switch, if the section of wire between the device and switch should find ground the device will run and in the case of the suit pump if it was running dry with no one to shut it off it could burn out or catch fire.

Thanks Sean. I'll double check that the brown is hot and the black is ground.

Agree with Kurt, best to turn off as much of the (+) wiring as possible when the switch is OFF.

That explains why my windshield wipers come on when I throw the cool shirt button. I still can't remember to pull the parking brake to activate the horn.

Anyone who has owned a modern LandRover should know all about this. Their entire electrical system was based on a devlish master control computer that supplied GROUND to every switched circuit. What a frikin nightmare that was!
